This afternoon, one of the greatest Rugby League clubs in the world, consisting of some of the best players in the game, will board their coach in Wigan and head over the Pennines. They will be Dewsbury bound.

This afternoon 17 lads will finish a hard day’s work and then make their own way to the Tetley’s stadium. Ahead of them they have what might be one of the most physical and demanding games of many of their lives. They will be playing against players that just a few weeks ago were contending the world club challenge in Australia. Players who represented England in the world cup, players who are already winners of the Challenge Cup. The task that lay before them is as difficult as you or I could imagine.

At around 7pm those 17 lads will pull on one of the most historic jerseys in the British game; that same red, amber and black jersey pulled on by legends of time gone by such as Lance Todd, whose legacy lives on through the trophy which bears his name. There are of course countless others, all of whom have put their body on the line in the name of our club.

At 8pm the 2 teams will take to the field of the Tetley's Stadium. Admiration will have turned to respect and the biggest game at the Tetley’s stadium for many years will commence.

The eyes of the Rugby League world will descend upon us.
Be a part of something special, for tonight we represent 17 lads against all the odds, let’s cheer them, support them, respect them, and together – let’s be the Dewsbury Rams.

Good luck guys, do us proud!

Turnstiles and bars for tonight's game will be open from 6.30pm, the Bailey Bar will open at 6pm.

Please be advised, we have no segregation of supporters (per stand) in place tonight, this means both Wigan and Dewsbury supporters are free to stand where they wish. We urge Rams Supporters standing in the South Stand to arrive in good time so that Rams supporters can stand together.

To Glenn and the 17 representing the red, amber and black this evening,

The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, you have applied the best of yourselves to the task at hand. I firmly believe that any man's finest hour in sport, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of play, tonight has to be such a night. The difference between two set of players often isn't size, power or strength, nor is it skill levels. Our 17 can all pass, tackle and run as well as any of the professionals in cherry and white. It boils down to a consistent application of basic skills, that makes the difference.

Once you agree upon the price you and your team mates must pay for success, it enables you to ignore the minor hurts, the opponent's pressure, and the temporary failures. The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary!!

Good luck boys!!!

Thank you Vince Lombardi

For those unable to attend this evening (and for Coolie's benefit(!)), BBC Radio Leeds will be giving the match full commentary. Their programme commencing at 7p.m. until 10 with James Deighton and Barry Eaton (no Julian Gaunt?) commentating. It will be broadcast on F.M., not sure about digital, but definitely NOT on A.M. or on line as they are covering the other code at that time.

That's actually rather good pockram - worth printing out and giving to the lads. I'm sure GM will have his own motivational speech, but I doubt it will be better. Maybe GFDU or Ram updates could let the lads see this.

Dont think we need to be told when to get in our stand. If only the club was run as official as the Barmy Army life would be perfect.
