Let’s all get down to the Big Fellas Stadium the home of Featherstone Rovers RLFC on Easter Sunday 20th April when the Women’s Rugby League Association come to town after a two year absence for their Challenge Cup and Plate Finals.
The actions start with a high noon Plate Final when league champions and favourites Bradford Clayton Thunderbirds play underdogs York Ladies who are appearing in their fourth consecutive final.
This is followed by the Challenge Cup Final at 2.00pm when whoever wins will see a new name engraved on the trophy. Whitworth Spartans play Rochdale Hornets Ladies, as well as winning the trophy it will also who is the top team in Rochdale, the first time in the history of the competition a derby as been played.
The Spartans who finished third in the league will start as favourites over the Hornets who will be hoping to emulate their male counterparts who last year won their first piece of silverware for the club for 91years.
"Both games should be crackers - a great way to celebrate Easter," said WRLA Chair Steve Manning. "We return to the Big Fellas Stadium after a two year break and look forward to seeing two great games at one of the finest stadiums inside and outside Super League and would like to thank Featherstone Rovers RLFC for letting us stage our finals here.
“It is our final blue riband event of the season and for newcomers to the women’s game I can assure you that you are all in for a treat with the rugby league skills on show by all four sides.”
