"The club is delighted to announce that Jack Howieson has agreed to take on the role of Head Coach for the Open Age team for the 2014 season.
Jack comes with a wealth of experience having played 275 games for the Sheffield Eagles including leading them to their Championship Grand Final victory in 2012. Jack also has international experience with the Scotland team including appearances in the 2008 Rugby League World Cup.
Ged Connolly-Thompson, Chargers Chairman, said: “We are delighted that Jack has agreed to become Open Age Head Coach. This is a clear indication of the commitment of the club to the development of the Senior team and we hope this will be a long relationship as we continue to build the club in the North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire areas.”
Look out for a formal press release in local newspapers this week."
This is a fantastic appointment by the club and, alongside the great work being done with primary RL, Touch Rugby and the junior setup playing in the Yorkshire and Midlands Leagues, shows a real commitment to development of rugby league on all fronts.
P.S. Touch Rugby is on every Tuesday at Netherthorpe School in Staveley - I'll be making yet another comeback tomorrow night if anyone wants to observe my silky skills at close quarters.
North Derbyshire Chargers - join the stampede
Running targets in 2015 - PB at all distances, complete first Marathon, run more than 1000 total miles.
