"--- and then on the eighth day, God created Rugby League."

Daily, my intense dislike of the Pinks, Rugby Yawnion, Manchester United, and far-right politics, grows ever larger, and will continue to do so forever more!

Question! What's the connection between Rugby League and Rugby Yawnion? Answer! There isn't one!

My girl-friend asked "If you had to choose between me and Swinton who would it be?" I replied "You know the answer to that one without even asking!"

There is a Joe Grima living locally. Surprisingly common name!

I remember reading once that our former player ran a successful double glazing firm in New Zealand

And just to be pedantic.......................

There's no apostrophe in Broncos. It's a plural, not a possessive.

But apart from that (and getting the wrong Mr G) your post was correct! ;)

Quite correct Spelly. A prime example of this is the bed and carpet shop (Swinton Discount Warehouse Ltd) on Manchester Road, Swinton (next to the Cricketer's) (look on Street-view if you can't get there)

On the shop front it says "For Carpet's, Vinyl's, Real Wood and Laminate's"

Another common apostrophe misuse is when you get a certain decade expressed as, e.g., 1950's, 1960's etc

I assume you meant "Okay dokey, gracious me, they taught you well in Monton too".

Attention folks! the above comments are now null and void seeing as how the signage at the front of this shop has just been revamped and no longer contains the apostrophe clangers. I found this out by driving past only today. You can however, still view the botched signwriting by looking on Street-view of course

The point of language is to commuicate and as long as the correct message get's accross the odd misplaced apostrophe or spelly mistake is not the end of the world. Having bin a 1960's grammer skolar and bean an teecher one's upon a thyme these thing's are a annoyance but hardly the end off the world. Languge evolve's methink's!
