Like I said thebacca, its all down to how you define success and sod all about "what I or any other bug ger deserves"!
If you define success as winning tge league leaders sheild daryl was an unequivocal success.
if you regard success as winning trophies, he wasn't.
Thats a simple enough concept to grasp is it not? And absolutely nowt to do with what we deserve.
Daryl took the cas job and fair play to him. He's done well there with limited resources.
Daryl leaving wasn't the issue.... he'd have gone anyway.
appointing bastian was a bad un.... a bloody nightmare of a coach who looked way way out of his depth and so far out of touch with reality he might have well come from mars. That was the issue. Set us back at least six years

Just a point though Robin, as I'm sure you know, we won those league titles by small margins (3pts 3 times and 6pts once) so we weren't the totally dominant force people believe. We did win 4 of the 10 trophies available over the period DP was in charge (would have been 5 but for a complete fluke event and I'm not counting the LLS or GF last season as he'd gone by then). Anyone who does not consider that a success is living in a dream world. Interestingly a bloke was brought in at the end of last season and hailed as some sort of messiah even though he failed to even get us to the GF!

YUP I can see your point and we can play about with stats. i.e. 4 x LLS +1 GF is an excellent success rate which I would love to see repeated but we're a zillion miles away from at the moment and can't emphasise how much I thought and still think Bastian took us backwards!!

Similiarly, out of the 3 GF and 3 NRC available to him to win 1 from 6 is the stark stat to give an opposite view to the above. At the mo I'd take anything no matter how remote. We can't beat Rochdale n Worky so I'm none too confident for the play offs!

Of the 5 losses, one as you say was a freak incident allowing our opponents which were on the rack time to regroup and get their wind back - one dropped high bomb and they were back in it.

Sam Smeaton's injury v Sheff

Once dropped ball from Johnny G! in the NRC final

One misplaced tap back straight into rob worrincy's hand v Fax in the NRC semi

One missed opportunity to take a drop goal v Batley

As you highlight the margins were very small and could have so easily been 6/6. They weren't and that's where the debate comes in. All I'm doing is posing an alternative view.

Currently, we are nowhere near the team of that period and I can't see us being so for a while.

It's time to regroup, stabilise the club after a turbulent period. Get some debt repaid. And build again as though it was 2008/9 cis IMO that's where we are at the mo.

Typical of you "glass empty idiot" were a million miles ahead of 2008/9, in 2008/9 we still had the crumbling railway end, we had no state of the art training facilities, we didn't have 25 vip boxes waiting to be fitted, our floodlights couldn't lite up a living room. We have more sponsorship than ever coming into the club, there was no pathway to the top, there is now, by finishing 3rd we will get 150k then it was nothing, get a grip of yourself man
