Leigh East Fun Day a Massive Success

Leigh East ARLFC had their first Development/fun day at Leigh Sports Village on Sunday which was a fantastic event. We would like to thank everyone involved from coaches, team secretaries, parents, committee and children. We would also like to thank the staff from LSV for all their help and support that made this day huge success. A big thank you also to the Photographers and cheerleaders for their involvement. Mr Andy Burnham opened the day which also included the launch of our new outdoor exercise equipment which we obtained with the help of funding from Wigan Council and The Big Lottery Fund to whom we are extremely grateful.

Leigh East U7s welcomed Ashton Bears, Woolston and Leigh Miners to the bank holiday fun day. Which gave the youngsters a great opportunity to show off their skills. Many thanks goes to the coaching staff of all the clubs who attended and expressed their thanks for a wonderful day

Leigh East U8s had a great day playing Hindley and West Bank at the development which saw Jacob Hardy score his first try and Callum, Darcy and William all play there first games in which William scored a hatrick.

Leigh East U9s 1-4 Halton Farnworth Hornets

The under 9 s hosted Halton Hornets, both teams played good flowing rugby which in turn provided an entertaining game for everyone to watch

Halton proved to be a touch more decisive near the east line and finally ran out victors, but a gallant effort from the east lads.

Leigh East U10s 2-6 Golborne Parkside

The hosts started off slowly by conceding 4 tries in the 1st half. The 2nd half was a big improvement with Ben Penkywicz and Tyler Caldwell leading the team around well which lead to two well taken tries from Sean Green. Which meant the second half 2-2.

Leigh East U12s 4-24 Hindley

2 early tries killed East off then struggled to find any good form, the hosts learned a lot from the game with Hindley bein a group above aswell, Easts try coming from Harry Stevenson

Leigh East U13s 62-0 South Trafford

U13s played South Trafford and put in a superb display of rugby. Try scorers Lewis O'Neil 2, Niall Seddon 2, Jordan McKay, Callum Hargreaves, Josh Southern, Archie Fleming, Jack Broxton, Elliott Dean and Jack Wild goals added by Matty Rudd,Elliott Dean and Jordan Mckay.

Leigh East U15s 26-8 Latchford Albion

East were hosts in a friendly before next weeks semi final but still remain unbeaten in 2014. It was East who were quickest out of the blocks scoring 2 tries but sloppy defending let Latchford back into the game. The second half was pretty much the same but East always looked in control and didn't need to get out of 1st gear. This weeks semi final is against Shevington Sharks at home kicking off at 12:15pm.

Rylands Sharks 30-54 Leigh East U18s
