Blake Green is in contract talks with Wigan over a new deal.

To try and stop him from signing for Salford.

Think he means wire were nowhere to be seen earlier in SL then new stadium/owner and they arrived, won a few CC

Suprisingly though having had the best squad on paper at least for the last couple of years the big prize the GF has alluded them, and know having lost a couple of leaders(not world class Dave T)are going to struggle to make the top 4

Oy, I'm not gonna rise to that!

Apparently the talks have been going on for some time with Wigan.

Your fixation is becoming a little pathetic.

what fixation, i have no "fixation" what so ever with the goings on at barton, just find it frustrating that marwan will resort to the football strategy of hiring and firing coaches, from what i have seen already this season salford have signed too many over the hill players on big contracts when the young lads that were coming through have been discarded

So the Salford rumour is nothing more than a rumour then?

I guess you are right, but Warringtons gentle slide down the league has seen big names leave, and some locally developed players come in which is good stuff. The question I have is why is Mr. Moran no longer seemingly pursuing the "buy buy buy" policy?

The 'buying success' policy only works for so long, especially as the availability of top quality overseas players has reduced significantly.

Its no coincidence that the clubs who have achieved sustained success (Saints, Leeds & Wigan) are the ones with the highest quality junior set up's. In my opinion Moran is going down the right path, he's bought them into a position where they're challenging for honours each year and they've started investing more into their juniors to try and sustain it.

Salford are where Warrington where 10 years ago, unfortunately Koucash seems too impatient to wait a few years for a trophy and expects instant success.

It was,of course,Brian Noble, who was responsible for the signings about whom you have an opinion, and the loaning/dual registering of young lads, about whom you have an opinion.

The thread is about '4 new signings'. Brian Noble will probably have a thread started should another club seek his services. It may be some time...

There are various threads started by nescient know-alls pertaining to Dr K you can contribute to.( If only the Crusaders were still going so the Widnes lot could bore them....)

I think Salford are interested, but I believe Wigan started talks with him before the talk about Salford cropped up.

i'd hazard a guess at Hauraki, Blake Green, Logan Tomkins.. and i guess if rumour is to be believed possibly Joel Tomkins.

I doubt Logan Tomkins is anything other than a stopgap to cover for Nobby's failure to recruit a specialist No.9.

A reasonable chunk of investment, and plenty of hard work, put Wire at the top table. I assume he means Salford can do the same.

I get that, however it took a few years to do, not a few seasons

Think he means wire were nowhere to be seen earlier in SL then new stadium/owner and they arrived, won a few CCSuprisingly though having had the best squad on paper at least for the last couple of years the big prize the GF has alluded them, and know having lost a couple of leaders(not world class Dave T)are going to struggle to make the top 4

Badly run when super league started and had to sell players, got in the poo and yep Moran and the board got us in a good position.

We bought steadily - not boom and bust

Yeah, pretty much what the two posters above said. It wasn't a slur on Warrington. It just has the potential to be a similar situation. New owner, new stadium, money invested, better players signed, no hopers (as you were in the 90s/early2000's) to title contenders. The more the merrier. I have no problem with it. The stronger the comp is the better IMO.

I knew it wasn't a slur from you, just wanted some meat on the bone

Wires new ground to wembley was steady progression over 5 years

Over the next 2-3 years buy a completely new team in the hope of winning a trophy.

The vast majority of the Warrington team of the last few years were bought and not developed by the club and this tactic managed to get them a few CC wins and a few grand final appearances. I guess Salford will be aiming to emulate this.

Wires bought over a period of time and when winning the cup they did play with kids who come through the ranks - can that be said of Salford if they have some success

And for the record it's good Salford are buying players, we need money spent in the game and DrK wants to spend so be it

just look how sneyd is playing at castleford and how smith has been playing for salford and that is my point i just think that some of the new signings are well past their sell by date and will do nothing to take the club forward. i want salford to do well but signing quantity over quality isn't the way forward mate

On the day your club has signed yet another player over 30 you state Salford signings are 'past their sell by date'.

Tim Smith is allowed to have a slight dip in form.I remember Macgraff Leuluai not being appreciated by you knowledgeable Widnes followers when you were in the lower half of the Championship - just as Betts was not wanted either.

We still have to play each other twice in the regular season.I think you may be in for a shock.

I don't have any problem with Marc Sneyd being on loan and being well coached by Daryl Powell - He will return even better than when he left.

Daryl Powell and Iestyn Harris are former players together and appear to respect each other - http://www.walesonli...s-moves-2153593

It'll not be long now until the spectre of the Brian Noble boondoggle era has been erased from the memory.

Not many - Across all 3 CC Final wins in 2009,10 and 12 I count only 5 Warrington trained players who took part

2009 - Riley, Harrison, Cooper & McCarthy

2010 - Wood, Riley & Harrison

2012 - Riley, Harrison & McCarthy

Well, there is s really good side at Wigan and an arguably better one at Leeds. He could buy either of them, after all transfer fees aren't on the cap...

Well Wire already have one Salford trained player on the books, maybe he will rejoin us.

Sneyd & Fages have both come through the ranks at Salford. Walton started his career at Salford. We have the Walne brothers holding down places both young enough to count.

Koukash has already said he wants to develop the academy and that was the reason there was talk of Flanagan coming over.

I could suggest you wait until the club reaches Wembley and see if they can manage 3 - Then I realized it was ephemeral as those players are no longer at Warrington.

Maybe the system should be changed before the brickbats are in use

Don't worry about wembley, worry about winning more than you lose, Rome wasn't built in a day.
Biggest worry is getting paying customer through the door.
What's the docs next horse called?? Norfolk n chance ?..
