Class 7 at Kingfisher Primary School are proud to announce they will be official match sponsors of the Rugby League Championship fixture between Doncaster and Rochdale at the Keepmoat Stadium on Sunday 25th May 2014, kick off 3.00pm.

Instead of paying to become sponsors, the school have accepted a challenge to increase the attendance at the fixture to more than 2000 people. This challenge has been linked to maths and English lessons.  The children have already written persuasive letters to all primary schools in Doncaster in an attempt to encourage children to attend the game. In addition to this the class will be create persuasive radio adverts, produce posters and write part of the match day programme.

The school are planning a number of exciting events that will add to the excitement of the fixture including a cheerleading competition, performance from the school choir and demonstration of skills from pupils at the school.

In recognition of the 20th anniversary of the Don’s promotion to the top division of rugby a “curtain raiser” game between a group of school teachers and a Dons Legends team (made up of some of the promotion winning team) will take place before the game. There are also plans to show the game against Batley, from April 1994, in the supporters bar after the main match.

This partnership between Kingfisher and Doncaster Rugby League club is a great example of how schools can highlight to children the different opportunities that exist within the sporting world and at the same time demonstrates how the Dons are committed to high quality community engagement.
