My choice as England's first choice hooker ahead of Roby, Clark, Higham, Mcillorum and Houghton. Of all of those players he exploits space around the ruck the best. His distribution, timing and movement just exceptional not to mention his kicking from dummy half.

What on earth.

He's an okay 9 just like he is an okay 6 7 or 13. Not exceptional in any aspects of the game apart from leadership of Leeds Rhinos.

He's not as good as any of the Hookers you have stated.

He's not quick enough to be a threat running from dummy half. His ball distribution is average. His leadership will be limited from dummy half. His kicking is good but not the main role of being a hooker.

No thankyou.

Pick who you've always picked and you will get what you always got...

The fact he gets a game at international level tells you everything you need to know about our lack of decent half backs for a few years now.

He's a jack of all trades

I believe a "Jack of all trades" used to be called a "utility player" ;)

Probably the best "OK" 6, 7, 9 or 13 I have ever seen.

To suggest Kevin Sinfield is only an "OK" player even now, based on his performances this season is a poor statement.

His vision, awareness and distribution at 9 are superb, the only thing he lacks in that role is pace in comparison to any other 9 you could currently name playing in SL.

Possibly Sinfields best position but he isn't anywhere near as good as Roby, McIlorum, Clarke, Houghton, Higham etc.

Given that the players you mentioned are specialist hookers and Sinfield isn't,that's hardly surprising,is it.

And there in lies the crux of the problem. Why pick someone who's not a hooker to play hooker for england. Like in the past playing a loose at stand off. We have good 6,7,9 and 13s who play those positions every week so why pick someone who doesn't. ....oh wait.....because he's sir kev and he must play pfft!

Nope but plenty of people seem to think he has a divine right to, and so does the england coach imho.

unfortunately the coach selects the team.Sinfield should have retired from international rugby after the world cup and we should be building for the next one.

He's a good SL player but an OK international player. He lacks vital attributes to succeed at international level. You can't play international RL in 6 7 or 9 without pace. He doesn't have it. Thats why he shouldn't play.

Cameron Smith isn't that quick but is regarded by many as the best hooker to have played the game

That's because he is. Sinfield is nowhere near that level and never has been - plus he has no pace..

It might well be the best position for him - it probably is for me come to think of it - but neither of us should be anywhere near an international squad...
