Almogàvers XIII Valencia, under the chairmanship of Kike Bolis, have become the sixth team to be accepted into the new Spanish Rugby League fraternity.

They are currently working with AERL - Asociación Española de Rugby League - in a development phase before joining the competition.

It is expected that the new club will participate in the inaugural Spanish Rugby League Cup which starts next month.

They've gotta go through Widnes first. Right of passage.

iViva Espana! iBuen Trabajo! (Did Spanish at school so I thought I'd show off too )

I read that some schools are set up to start playing RL in October, which is just fantastic. Spain and Greece are my two favourite 'new' nations, both are going about their business the right way and focusing on developing locals rather than ex-pats or heritage players and are growing their domestic competitions quite rapidly.

Where are these teams based?

Rugby Union the only game in the world were the spectators handle the ball more than the players.

Actually Spain could be draining the Frenches from Perpignan and towns like that. If there's a team built in Barcelona, you can expect a good level within 5 years.

Mostly in Valencia and Alicante at the moment, there's some activity in Madrid as well.

It would be great to have a Barca team in the French leagues in a couple of years, if viable. It would be close to most of the teams and would add some profile to the competition.

There's 3 teams in Valencia, others in the little near towns and one in Alicante, at the moment.

Perhaps one or two amateur sides might fancy a tour?
