Player coach Paul Cooke spoke to the official website after his side produced a comeback 22-36 win against Swinton Lions at Leigh Sports Village.

The Dons found themselves trailing 16-12 at the break, but tries from Tom Hodson, Craig Robinson and Steve Snitch, along with the boot of Dave Scott secured the comeback.

Whilst admitting he wasn’t 100% satisfied with the performance, Cooke was pleased with the win.

“It was a win, we haven’t played particularly well, I have had a conversation with the team in the changing room after the game and the general consensus is that in the past we would have lost the match, especially after half time when we went 10 points behind.

“We stuck to our guns, we have lost some players in Shaun Leaf and Mark Castle and done it tough, but we have got over the line in the end, thankfully for us it is three points and we move on to next week.

The win against Swindon marked the halfway point in the Kingstone Press Championship.

Doncaster lie in third place and Cooke is pleased with the overall campaign so far.

“We have played everybody home or away now, we have only lost three and of the ten victories we have had, we have only won three by more than a bonus point, so teams have been within 12 points of us,” said Cooke.

“We have ground out a lot of results and we have been in games, whereas in the past we haven’t been.

“We are a tough nut to crack at times, we show a lot of character and we have just got to sharpen up and smarten up a little bit.

“Whilst you can win games when not playing great, it bodes well for the rest of the season.

“We are turning in third position, we can’t be caught if we keep winning against the teams lower than us and we are doing ok.”
