Thanks, certainly a different take on it. The questions all seem to be raised out of not knowing exact numbers etc. personally I think they should still hold an enquiry exhume, and then reinter the bodies in a more dignified spot after an examination.

A little more on it here:

Surely a number of people who worked at this location during the later years are still alive today. Does anyone know if any of them have come forward to deny any of this happening or to offer a different version of events?

Nobody is denying that 800 children died whilst under the care of the Roman Catholic church.  The only matter is in dispute in that article is whether they were dumped in a septic tank or deposited in an unmarked grave to be forgotten.

It's a very important distinction if you're desperate to find a way to defend the church.

I'm not sure its even that distinct! There is no doubt that there were bodies left if a septic tank, the article Bob8 linked to suggests that there may be as few as 20 in there (although I saw an interview with the guy who found it when he was a child and he described layers of "bodies on bodies" which makes me think there were more than 20 in it).

But the other side of this is, regardless of how few there are in there, this really wasn't acceptable in the mid 1900's.

Agree whether it was 20 children's bodies or 800 disposed of this way (even if it isn't a septic tank) it really is unacceptable and should be fully investigated.

There's now talk that children in some of these homes were used in "medical experimentation" WTF?

Don't worry.  Someone will be along shortly to assure that it's nowhere near that many really and it's not quite as mean as 'experimentation'.  Just extra loving vaccination.

I am not sure anyone is saying this is OK.  It sounds horrific to everyone.
