Quite enjoying Sri Lanka's batting today.  300 lead over England now.

Remove everything left of "England" and you get closer to the true story.

SL 457 all out.  A cracking day's cricket from the Sri Lankans.

England need 350, the 8th highest run chase total ever in test cricket to win.

One result is that Cook might get a single game ban after this game due to the slow over rate!  He was fined after the last game and two slow over rate fines in six months gets you a ban.

Yes, the Indian captain was banned for a game in 2012 for a second offence in six months.

If they can take this to a draw, I will eat my shoes... and socks!

Just as well; I'd been out and my socks and shoes were a bit sweaty. Seriously though, Moeen's innings was heroic.

Indeed!  Take no pleasure in seeing England lose but made up for the Sri Lankans, a draw wouldn't have been an injustice.

Stunning innings from Moeen though.

Stunning innings from Moeen though.

Many times in the last few years, England have needed a patient innings to save a match. Moeen was exactly the right player at the right time, which we haven't had very often. Takes a few wickets, too. I think his place in the team is safe for a while now.

Not a bad effort from the lads at Scarborough yesterday.

Chasing down 291 with five wickets and a good bit to spare.

We all know about Ryan Tendo, but Tom Westley seems to be coming on at a good pace.

Its about time they won something again in the one day format as the Committee show little

interest in the four day format. They of course would deny that.

Glamorgan has been a club without ambition for about five years.

Glamorgan has been a club without ambition for about five years.

Its frustrating isnt it ?

I go to all formats of the game but prefer the four dayers.

As a member and looking at the balance sheets annually you can see why they are so keen on one dayers, and remember

David East the ex CEO a few years back  claiming they earn over 80% of revenue via the one day format, with the overwhelming

majority being taken as a result of the T20`s.

As I say though when a pal of mine mentioned the lack of ambition at a Members Forum they completely denied it..

Speaking to others over the years though most seem to disagree with those who run Essex CCC when it comes

a perceived lack of County Championship ambition.
