While reading this article about the Commonwealth Nines, it mentioned this in passing: "Last Saturday night, the national team under new coach – the former Leigh, Halifax, Huddersfield and Castleford winger Stuart Donlan - drew nearly 5,000 to Lamport Stadium in Toronto to see the Wolverines lose 18-40 to the RAF in an international friendly". Wow!

Yep, fantastic. I'm sure they had around 7,000 for their game against USA last year

They've situated the Canada national team in an affluent area of Toronto where there's not a great deal to do there. They promote it well in the shops and cafes in the area and of course the wider area hardcore attend as well. It's a very multicultural area and they promote it as "rugby" and there's no prejudice between the two codes. They're doing it well there.

About time I updated this.

They are playing the Lionhearts this week, which should draw more than the RAF.

I was with the RAF for this game and it was a great night. Corey and Eric did a great job promoting the game and did a great job getting the crowd going during the game. A little bit different to our normal games but it was a great atmosphere that our guys definately enjoyed. The crowd was 4600 and about 1500 stayed behind after to socialise with the players. A fanatastic night and a good result for us.

The game is on Premier sport 2 July at 1900
