A large hand held flag with the club logo on will be produced for each of the 81 clubs that took part in this years Challenge Cup. Ideally these flags will be held by one representative from your club who will also wear your club kit with the representative from each finalist club leading out the rest of the clubs. Please can you complete the attached form and return it by Friday 11 July.
I’m aware that some clubs will want to run this as a competition therefore please can you run these in the next month or so in order to return the completed form by the July deadline. Once we have this information we’ll liaise directly with the nominated representative to make it easier and smoother for all parties.
In terms of the club representative we’re happy for this to be anybody aged 14 or above. It’s felt that it would be inappropriate for anyone under the age of 14 to be involved due to their welfare as a result of the long day and the amount of time they could be stood with the flag. The only other stipulation being that if they are under 18 that they are accompanied on the day by a parent / guardian. Please however can you make it clear that no parent / guardian will not be able to be with them at all times including when they go pitch side and into the tunnel area.
If you’re not able to provide a representative for whatever reason please or we don’t receive the form back by the deadline we’ll assume that we need to provide somebody to hold the flag on your behalf.
In terms of the logistics of the day the club representative will need to be at Wembley Stadium at approximately 10am on Saturday 23 August to take part in the on pitch rehearsal. As a thank you we’ll provide two match tickets to each flag carrier so they and a guest can enjoy the day. For the avoidance of any doubt no accommodation or travel expenses will be paid by the RFL for this activity.
