Bulls starlet Wood bolsters Rams options

Dewsbury Rams have made their first dual-registration move of the season with the temporary acquisition of Bradford Bulls centre or winger Sam Wood.

Wood will provide vital cover following the news that loanee Ben Hellewell will miss the next two matches after being banned for an incident which occurred while playing in a Featherstone Rovers Academy fixture.  And with several other players carrying knocks, Rams head coach Glenn Morrison moved swiftly to bolster his squad as his side continue to jostle for position in the play-offs.

“Sam is a quality young player who has already made nine appearances for the Bulls in Super League, including five this season,” said Morrison.  “He will add vital depth to our squad which is exactly what we need as we approach the critical stage of the season.”

Sam could make his debut in Sunday’s crucial match against Whitehaven at the Recreation Ground (3.00pm).

I'm disappointed that we've had to go down this road with duel reg, what I can't understand is we've released Robinson & we've player's out on loan so why we've brought somebody in from outside the club is beyond me!!!

Desperate scramble for places now. Each place up could be worth £50k more, so it's becoming really short-term now. If he's better than Robinson, then it gives more chance of finishing another place up.

We are still not safe from relegation, though highly unlikely. One relegation spot to fill from 6 teams including us.

Yes, I'm also disappointed - I would have preferred to have completed the season without any DR's.

It also begs the question of what has Grayston done so wrong to be completely excluded from the squad all of this time. The club really does need to provide an answer to this one - he is a player that the fans were really taking too and held high hopes of who then was inexplicably dropped and no word emerges about the reasons.

I know the family well and I can assure you they and the player himself are completely in the dark on this he was told at team selection for the game after the feather stone match that he wasn't selected and Pryce would be fullback the lad played against feather stone when not well and says himself he didn't have a good game all players get dropped but five weeks seems a bit harsh apart from that I don't know the answer johnny

Grayston isn't available on Sunday. He stated he'd unavailable for this weekend when he signed.

Robinson was released to allow him to continue to play. He's a specialist winger, of which we already have two.

It would have suited the club to continue the loan arrangement, but as alluded to in the press release, Rochdale would only continue to play him if they could free up his loan spot.

This means it was in Shaun's interests yo grant him a release.

Hi Reg. From pretty much the highest authority at the club! Can't comment on previous weeks.

For the record I think he's a decent player, but I only see him on match days.

Think Sam Wood was one of the names mentioned to come to the rams sometime during the season, talented player who should improve the team.I'm sure if teams around us was offered a player of his ability, they wouldn't say no.
