I'm a bit disappointed as I thought he played well in the pre season friendly against Keighley and in the cup game against West Hull. Just like Farrell he wasn't given much game time!

Rams release Robinson

Dewsbury Rams have released winger Shaun Robinson.

Robinson signed for the club from Oxford ahead of the 2014 campaign, but has struggled to break into the Rams first team, with Dale Morton, Greg Scott and Austin Buchanan all performing strongly.  It meant Shaun was restricted to just one competitive appearance, against West Hull in the Challenge Cup, in which he scored a hat-trick.

He joined Rochdale Hornets on loan after that, and the Hornets have since enquired about the possibility of signing Robinson to a full contract, as it would enable them to bolster their squad with another dual-registration signing.

Rams head coach Glenn Morrison explained that the decision was taken with Shaun’s best interests at heart.  With Championship clubs limited to a maximum of five dual-registration or loan players in their match day 17 at any one time, and with forwards now being a priority at Rochdale, Shaun was in danger of being frozen out of the game completely,” he said.

“We wanted to be fair to the player and therefore have taken the decision to release him from his contract so that he can continue to play with the Hornets.”

Good luck to the lad. He looks like a good quality CC1 player but never seemed good enough for the Championship, especially on defence. Maybe he will prove us all wrong some day.
