Wright has been injured for a while - upper arm I believe. He also is a poor tackler though. Farrell deserves a run, at least from the bench based on Sunday's performance.

Nah we drop Hemmingway and let both Farrell and Wright share the role. Hemmingway offers nothing in terms of passing or defence playing as a hooker.

BSJ says Wright is a poor tackler. Maybe it's a matter of opinion. And let's not forget that Barrow are not the strongest opposition.

This is true it is opinion and only one counts that's the coach so I'll support whoever he picks. Just don't like Hemmingway at hooker that's all it's not his position and he can't play the role. His distribution from dummy half is shocking and that's so important being it's the start of every play we have, the amount of bad passes and wrong decisions he has made in the last 3 weeks is unacceptable. We have two natural hookers in Faz and Wrighty both who have looked much better when they came on in my humble opinion but that's all it is mate just my opinion I'm far from an expert.

wrighty not been injured all seaon had flu at xmas THATS IT.. ....last 2 games he played he turned games around ie swinton and whitehaven ... ....another rising star given no chances and about to exit if hemmingways an hooker i,m superman ....9 times out of 10 he always goes to the right to pass...and goes hiding on defensive dutys....

That's the kind of loyalty we need - so I'm told.

Hemingway does a lot more organising and has a decent kicking game. His distribution from the ptb is poor however and Wright's isn't a great deal better - balls to head or ankles tells the story. Watch Farrell's skills in this area and they are an improvement - godwin's are also very good, but it is easy to overlook someone doing things right rather tha someone doing them wrong.

The good thing at present is that we actually do have a number of options to choose from, hence this debate. The selection against halifax will be an indicator of GM's preference, and it will be Hemingway.

I've just given the discussion its own thread so it's easier for everyone to spot, rather than being buried in multiple pages in the Barrow match thread.

This we should start with Farrell at hooker, Hyde at 6, and Wright on the bench, possibly rest Hemmingway but this all depends on the extent of the injuries suffered in the Barrow match

Amazing how we percieve things differently. I don't really see Farrell as a hooker - yes he has a decent pass, but it is slow, and he isn't busy enough in the position. He is however, a really strong and powerful lad, who should be groomed for second row IMO. He bounced Harrison out of the way on Sunday, and that takes some doing. Wright still the best option for me, with TH on the bench, and Farrell as forward cover.
