Joe Picketts won't be playing for us again as he doesn't want to get injured before going to Australia, however  like Ben, he was still there today supporting the lads. Great team spirit around the place.

Congrats on finishing top lads, fully deserved, you've beaten us 3 times now that isn't luck, that's consistent good performances, they always say the league table doesn't lie!

Hope to see you in the grand final!

Didn't hear the after match speech by Barry Eaton, but understand from quite a few people he just slagged the ref off & didn't even congratulate York in any way shape or form - total disgrace - needs to wake up because even without one of our stand out players we were by far the better team

See on Hunset board we were supposed to be 'very afraid' - they might need to be more afraid of Oldham beating them twice in the next few weeks

Anyway, back the to the lads that matter, actually think some of our key players have had a lot better games than yesterday, went back to going wide too early instead of a a bit more direct for me, but that's just a minor point as team spirit got us through the hard parts of the game.

If you can give a player 10 out of 10, then Haynsey got it yesterday for me & Ryan Backhouse was not far behind, all the pack outstanding again, also great to see Ben Reynolds there & with the lads

Pity we don't get a single penny for finishing top, so looks like we will have to win the GF to get 20k in to help JG, will still be very hard to do, but every confidence in that set of lads to finish the job

Shades,

Agree with the direct comment, on a windy day outside always looked a challenge and our passing speed was poor at times, however when we took their line on we caused the problems, thought Minikin was outstanding and a real handful and Brennan, Backhouse and Roche really got stuck in. Players like Haynsie and Aldous easily get overlooked because people get used to "it's just what they do" in their game week in week out but both are must keeps for me.

Not heard anymore about contract discussions starting but if we don't soon then we may have a good end to this season but the start of next season could be a disaster as we will be completely re-building, really hope not.

Know exactly where you're coming from Andy - need to get a lot of this squad signed on asap - but sometimes think that offering contracts to some lads now but not some of their team mates can cause problems & as per usual we don't know what division we will be in (and therefore how much central funding we will get)

Understand how difficult it is for JG with the money situation (spoke to him yesterday & its been a difficult year with (amongst other things) 'previous coach issues' eating into the finances...)

Suppose if we went up & say Batley or Keighley came down, we could be a good option for some pretty decent players

Back to Hunslet - reads like Grimmer & Hood could have picked up season ending injuries yesterday, if so massive blows for them

Shades,

Yep, difficult but we cannot lose players like Aldous, Haynsie and several others form what I think is the nucleus of a very good squad.

He's been so consistent for us has Aldous, can't remember last time he had a bad game, if any.

Kingstone Press Try of the Week - Colton Roche (York City Knights)

Prop Colton Roche scored the match-winning try six minutes from time to put York City Knights in pole position to finish top of Kingstone Press Championship One.

Saltonstall and Backhouse are in the team of the week with Backhouse being the player of the week for Championship 1.

Benn Hardcastle in as well for Gateshead.

Congratulations James Saltonstall and Ryan Backhouse but for me the player of the week should have been James Haynes

really pleased for Ryan Backhouse. strong runner, still got a bit of pace from his days in the centre. nice lad too. as a fev fan, i was sorry to see Colton Roache being released without being given a chance. fevs loss is yorks gain.
