If the parachute payment received,if the worse scenario happens, is a better pay off than not making the play offs would it be better to go down regroup and come straight back up.

How much is this parachute payment and when is it received?

I thought these only applied to the two clubs relegated from SL.

The original proposal was for the 5 relegated clubs to receive a one-off payment of £25k.

I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave Hadfield - Independent 25th August 1996.

Where has this been confirmed? I can find details of SL parachute payments but nothing about the same for the Championship.

If it is fact then it will help the clubs going down but if it isn't then I hope they aren't making plans in expectation.

that would be a really silly of them to spend monies on expecting to be relegated

that would be like players using their own phones to place bets on matches

oh wait a minute ;)

BSJ  -  The original Policy Review document  -  http://www.therfl.co...w-documentation

Paragraph 6.9 (next to the last paragraph) is about the 5 clubs receiving £25k

3 wins...tall order with donny to visit
Theyve beaten leigh and featherstone there this season

Thanks Keith. I had read that but you will see that there are a number of details, and numbers, in that document that were amended or excluded from the final agreement that was reached with the clubs. I'm not saying that it is wrong, just that I can't find any actual details of such in the reports of the final agreement. This agreement has also yet to be published as there is still an ongoing discussion about DR etc.

Maybe the club could clarify the position?

Most of the numbers have changed from the original Policy Document, so it's no good referring to that.

BSJ - The parachute payments have been altered since the original document.   From John Dutton at the RFL - the 10th, 11th and 12th teams only will receive £15,000

Thanks Keith for clarifying that.

Not a very big parachute is it, although it still gives a couple of clubs an incentive for avoiding that next to bottom spot, notably Swinton and Rochdale.
