......and I didn't expect it to be Tommy Gallagher as he was on song and man of the match by a mile.

And we shouldn't have played Fairbank and recruited better. These things happen.

A disastrous flop in the last two minutes of a pivotal game, to go with what's been an utterly disastrous flop of a season on many different levels.
We'll get a good taster of what it'll be like in the doldrums a week on Sunday when Swinton visit. 300 people packed into Mount Pleasant.

Also gutted. Not a bad performance by our makeshift team, no backward steps. Wayne Reittie 100% battler, Alex Brown's opportunism excellent, Byron & Rowey showing commitment, but that Bulldog spirit, stripped bare in the close season, was not there.

Interesting quote from the Chairman in his programme notes - 'maybe it's a taxi for Nicholas'.

I thought you lot played pretty well and couldn't have complained had we lost.

Gifting you two tries was an act of neighbourly generosity too.

Today was similar to many of the previous games this season when Black was injured. The effort was excellent but the Batley team lacked the quality and leadership to win/see out the game after what was a good first half display.

With Whitehaven needing 4 points from Rochdale at home and Swinton away I agree the fat lady is waiting to burst into song.

... and those four points are on the basis we actually win our last two games. Based on today, I'd say the probability of that is really low.

We are all but relegated.

Hornets and Swinton will be going all out to beat Haven as there is £15,000 at stake in parachute  money between us.

We were dreadful. Relegation all but confirmed.

As a club we now need to take stock and rebuild, though on the gates we are likely to get next season that will be tough.

Its going to be a long hard road back to where we were last year - how things can go so wrong in 12 months is mind blowing.

Ive nothing but respect for Kevin and the board for what they have done for the club, it must be a thankless task at times, our luck has just run out this year, we have been punching above our weight for years.

Lets hope that we can recruit as well as we can in the circumstances and try and come straight back up.

What we're dealing with here is a complete lack of respect for the law
