A Cas supporter who is almost as old as the club itself has been recognised by the Rugby League public in being named Castleford Tigers BRUT Fan of Pride 2014. Ronald Kirk was 10 years old when he went to his first Tigers match in 1939, and all these years on he still has his own seat at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.

As part of his prize, Ronald, and his son, Andrew, had the chance to have a photo pitch-side pre-match at the Challenge Cup Final at Wembley, and it was here that he revealed that it was his father who first introduced him to his beloved Cas, all those years ago.

Ronald has passed his love of the club down to his family and he describes finding out that he had been named Castleford's Fan of Pride as "a shock to me, to tell you the truth - and my wife!".

He modestly puts his award down to having "a big family for a start, plus friends", but there is no doubt that the rugby league public, who chose each Super League clubs' winners, understood the loyalty and passion Ronald has for the Tigers.

By winning BRUT's Fan of Pride award for Castleford Tigers, Ronald will enjoy a day out at the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford in October, as well as some BRUT products. He will also go forward for selection for the National BRUT Fan of Pride 2014. This award will be chosen by a panel of Rugby League experts and will see the overall winner winning £5,000 for their club's community foundation, a pair of 2015 season tickets, a signed Super League shirt and an invitation to the Man of Steel Awards.
