New Friendly announced for 2015

Sunday 15th February 2015
Barrow RLFC v Oldham RLFC (First Team)
Craven Park

1400 KO

Oldham have been a regular fixture in the pre-season friendlies over the last few years and have always provided a stern test for Barrow.

Coach Paul Crarey said, "They're a good side Oldham, always big in the forwards, traditionally like to play down the middle, but they score some good tries out wide too, grand finalists, they'll be a tough test for us."

Of course in past few seasons Oldham have been in the league below Barrow, where as this year both our selves and Oldham are in League 1.

Cresta continued, "These friendlies are all important to us, its a chance to see what we're made of. Its a chance to put into practice what we're been working on in Pre-season. As a coach you read a players CV and see a players highlights on Youtube or whatever, but you only get a full picture when you see them in a game situation. Next year we've already got 3 really competitive friendlies lined up, it'll give us a good chance to test our metal!"

"I'll tell ya what, we've got some good lads down here next season, some with size and some with a lot of pace, some young kids keen to impress and some great older heads who can lead us round the park, but all 'em have the right attitude and work ethic, only 3 weeks in and already they're a strong team!" said Crarey

"The most important thing for next season is to build, not necessarily go straight back up, but to put in place the right structures,  the right practices, the right team that when we do go up, we're ready to compete and maintain in that higher league. If we go up too soon, we'd get hammered every week and nobody wants to see that! So we build, we look to the future, we look for longitude, and hopefully the continuation and long term success of Barrow Rugby!"

For a 1st chance to meet the squad for next season, come along to Kit Launch night on Friday 28th Nov from 7.30pm in The Nines. You can but your new 'Spirit of '55' shirt, get it signed and have a snap with your fave players.

Kit launch is a free event, no tickets needed and open to all Barrow Raiders fans.
