Rugby League needs to help

I use to visit watersheddings regularly with my dad as 8 year old watching the likes of Charlie McAlister, John Cogger and Paul Round etc. i was sad to see Oldham have to start from scratch again. and of late started to see where they were and how they're run.

from what i see and have read the club has no bond with the fans. The social media accounts are poorly run, the website is so far outdated with some information and worse still very little news for fans. where are player interviews? profiles? (fans need to feel connected to the club)

The chairman where is he? how do you contact him with ideas etc? he seems like he wants to be the figure but cant take criticism and or give answers to the fans.

Ive noticed a few fans have said he's doing it all alone....... He's had to get a job for income.... etc etc

Well why not reach out to the fans and explain this and ask for help. I'm sure many a fan would like to be involved.

The RFL should also be involved. it disgusts me their reluctance to get involved

Because of the emails sent to the RFL League Express picked up on it and mentioned it in their article on the Roughyeds. Now that got the problems to a wider audience, my bucket collection idea for a full page statement is looking even better.

Its good that the RL express has picked up on the story.I am glad its out to a wider audience.

I do not know what to make of Hamiltons reaction other than to take it a face value and get that meeting arranged.

However at this meeting no punches should be pulled.

I for one will not deviate from my stance which is that despite his best intentions he is not remotely capable of taking the club forward and for the future of the club and possibly his own he should find a away of getting out.

Before you jump on me when I say his own future I mean to acknowledge that running the club is not easy and can only have taken its toll.I am sure once he does find a way of relinquishing it he will feel a lot better.

In CH defence he has spent years on Oldham, some good some bad.

His failing is that he doesn't speak to his fans/customers

The website is a joke, the you tube channel is a joke, the online shop is non existent, twitter good on game day

I don't do Facebook but I assume it's bad

The news coverage is not the same these days as roger has gone and matt chambers is engaged elsewhere

Last year I tried to buy a shirt and hoodie I'm still awaiting a call. 2 years ago my company was going to sponsor a player I'm still waiting a call and or information

You are right, it has to be taken at face value.

From observation only, it is a major step to admitting help is needed.

That magnanimity won't have sat easily.

Agree it should be an honest dialogue, in reality just lots of questions for CH.

What does he need, what would he like

If he could have one thing now what would it be.

He might even hold his hand up and say whitebank was a mistake., with the benefit of hindsight of course.

Hopefully one small step for CH & the fans, one giant leap for ORLFC

What Questions need to be asked, and is he likely to answer them?

1) Have you the finances to redevelop Whitebank Stadium? What is your timescale? What was the RFL`s "minimum standards " Timescale?

2) Do you understand that the perennial HMRC saga suggests to many fans that you have not got the resources to even pay tax on time let alone start any redevelopment...well?

3) You own ORLFC would you rather the club fail than enter in to a partnership with people who want to help just because you dont want anyone elses input, even though this attitude and the secrecy will be a mitigating factor in any potential investors mind?

4) You are the only one who knows the complete up to date situation of ORLFC plc, with your hand on your heart if you have hope for the future what is it based on?

Now thats four off the top of my head and they are blunt and to the point.

Let me say for the record that where I am concerned My only serious gripe is the one man operation/still no progress merry go round, Its obvious to me and I guess Rugby Oldham that Chris knows the Game and has a shrewd eye for Talent...Thats not in question.

I want to have some hope for the Future...I dont see much presently!

Please pose the same questions to any potential successor. I suspect the answers will be exactly the same.

I would still want to hear them off Mr Hamilton Nevertheless.... Question 3) in Particular  ...How could potential Sucessors answer anyway without current facts?

A more likely cause of failure, would probably be "the dirty dozen" or so that are sticking the knifes in on this forum, trying to get the RFL involved and other such tactics. Will "the dirty dozen" accept the responsibility, if the club does collapse and the RFL do not allow a team to run in the town again?

Yes I will accept responsibilty and once it is all shut down we can move over to the latics and shut them down, then ORUFC .Who knows one day we might be able to do ina big outfit like Man Utd  with our malicious offers of funding ,maketing, security and social media skills

Yeah, that's right. Over the last 15 years 2000 fans have left the club, the accounts are never submitted on time for like 5 years in a row, the Council and investors and sponsors have been alienated, the website hasn't been properly updated for 2 years, the club plays on a midden, there are no supporter facilities, the second team has been scrapped, there is no social media presence, offers of help from Rgby Oldham have been rudely dismissed and the club has a quarter of a million financial liability - and no assets.

But, the reason the club will fail isn't any of those issues. It's apparently cos some of us don't know our place.

Let's face it, there's a difference of opinion. Some will always support the team. Others support from a distance but still have the club at heart. I try to do my bit to help now, whilst we still have a club, not out of loyalty to any individual but to the club i've supported all my life. If that club folds, i'll do the same for any reincarnation if it materializes. But let's not start fighting between ourselves. That doesn't help anyone! Personally, i love watching the current team, even in the dump called Whitebank.

The danger posed to the club is the power of social media. What is happening on here, a dozen or so people having a gripe about the management and the things that they control or even have no control over. In the past, this type of discussion would have took place in the Sheddings club after a game, and would have been balanced as the people with the gripe would have been asked by others to offer their alternative, and if they could not offer a viable alternative, it would not be brought up again. Unless the person with the gripe was unreasonable and unwilling to accept that the club did not have the funds to do what they were suggesting. Sadly on social media sites like this, the gripe just gathers momentum, because the people with a reasoned view choose to ignore the comments and the uninformed are easy to convince to follow, what they think is the majority.

Saints 10 Coach

You are obviously missing the point. The comments on the site recently are because of concern for the club and the way it is being run by the one owner. By  your comments it appears that you are a supporter of CH and your comments about people having a gripe just to get at CH. Our attendances are dwindling as fans are fed up with what is happening.

Your comments about the days at Watersheddings are true but with the difference that the fans owned the club as members and the committee were appointed by them and were always to discuss things with the fans after the game.

Perhaps if we revert back to a members club the glory days may return again

The problem now its a one man band and you never see him after a game unless you go into the sponsored  lounge.

Its not up to the fans, or so called gripers on here who are the problem, they could be the solution if only CH would meet them in a  open meeting with the press present.

This would stop all the negativity.
