Keith T
Hunslet will probably have their full quota of DR players from Leeds so I expect a close game. This will be a game Eaton and Hetherington will have marked down as winnable so I have no doubt they will be putting out a strong team. I still think if our lads have got their heads sorted out (attitude) we can win by 6 or 7 points. I remember when ............................."It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave Hadfield - Independent 25th August 1996. DavidM
Full DR from a club they are intertwined with , and not a bad squad already , with Kain and Brown and Flanagan in the middle . They will be targeting this , so any win is good enough . And a win is a must , not even up for debate if we have realistic ambitions to survive

The King Of Leon
Dont be too sure of beating us, we had Halifax on a plate until 8 mins from time when a brillant try beat us, leigh was 0-0 for 38mins and 6-6 after 63 mins until we got a man sin binned and they blew us away in the last 15 mins. We were poor last week in the 2nd half but apart from Bradford no one has hammered us for 80 mins.Look forward to good weather and a good game sunday. Hawkwindbag
I'd be very surprised if we had "full DR" (i.e. 4 players), we've been going with two for the last few league games, and just one last Sunday. Form suggests our teams look very well matched indeed, notwithstanding the fact we have a couple more league points. As ever with trips up there, much depends on how we deal with the journey ... I am hoping that this is the kick-start to our season. We have had a weeks break and we have had some hard matches having played the Bulls away (twice), London away, Leigh away and Halifax away so hopefully our lads will be freshened up and raring to go on Sunday. We had this sort of scenario last season then went on a 9 game winning run but a run of 4 or 5 wins out of 7 or 8 matches will do. DavidM
I'm interested how this break has freshened us . We've had a bit of treadmill at a pretty brutal level, so hopefully we are recharged and that spark is there in attack and the solidity back in defence . No excuses here . Also interesting to see how the Aussie lads have progressed with a full two weeks to train and gel some more . Doran returning is a big plus , so let's start fast , make them feel uncomfortable and get the job done

I was reading your analysis of what happens when the Super 8s start on the other thread Keith. I reckon that if there's certainly a six-point gap - and probably only four-point gap - between second and third bottom at the end of the regular season, it will be very difficult indeed for the teams in the relegation spots to make that ground up. In that respect the Blackpool matches, when we play Donny and you play your pals down the road, will be even more important than this Sunday's match. I'll be there on Sunday so hoping for some good weather (helps with the drive!) and a good game.

town4me
No easy games in this league and it will have to be a good show from the lads. Town 24 hawks 18. A must win game as I am sure hawks would see he return fixture as the same.

town4me
Is it just me or does anyone else not get fed up with opposition coaches comments before they come to play town at DP. The predictable comments about "the journey up there"! You would think we were at the northern tip of scotland. They only do it once a season do they not stop to think how many times town have to make the journeys "down there" and compete in tough games?
DavidM
Correct it is irritating . They should try it a dozen times plus a year . These teams have short journeys in the main living in the heartlands with teams all around them . It's a handy excuse though for coaches . I also laugh when the media and Sky go on about great numbers of travelling fans at away games- yeh great , they've made the long five mile trek ! There is also another factor that may affect results and that is Batley, Hunslet and Dewsbury are going to have 3 matches in 8 days because of the next round of the Challenge Cup. Your game with Leigh will be a midweek game as will the others and as we have already done that twice this season it does take it out of the players. You are quite correct of course gentlemen, but most would say there's something in it, and I'd be willing to bet Workington and Whitehaven have the best home-to-away win ratio of all the clubs in the game, which would (sort of) prove it! Don't like it when the coaches mention it though, it's tantamount to making excuses before the game has kicked off. I actually quite enjoy doing the trip a couple of times a season, but you're right, I wouldn't fancy it every other week, either from a time or a financial point of view. I take my hat off to those of you (either Town or Haven) that continue to do so.

Indeed so, but as we can confidently expect to get zilch from Leigh away, whether it be Sunday afternoon, Wednesday evening or 3am on a Saturday morning, the fixture change won't make a lot of difference on that front. Of more interest of course, is who we are down to play on the Sunday following the re-arranged fixture ...
