nah, Koukash isn't interested in rugby, that's why he bought salford.

a fellow collector who knows the value of a 1941 wartime issue bought it. Happy to see links to 1940s issues for a fiver though?

fair point but those above are shocking quality - tears, rips, writing, folded and 'common' clubs with plenty about.

any wartime ones - even from auction houses you have links to?

show me a wartime programme that's sold for £5.00...?

there was a war on, no paper, rare as hens teeth. i think i let it go too low at £80 if there's rubbish on eBay for £30+ that looks like it's been in the washing machine!!

Seriously, do you collect Oldham stuff? got a few 1950/ 60s Oldham homes and aways for £1.00. each.  Saints, Liverpool mainly

this lot sold for £620.00 plus 22% commission :bye: ....because it's rare and high quality.

If someone paid £620 for that they were mugged ........I can only think that somone wanted one in particular , I personaly would only pay max of £20 for any of those ........in bidding we all have to start from somewhere , I prefer to start low , if i get insulted into the bargin then thats it ............ if someone just came straight up to you and offerd you £80 without any haggling for the Wakey programme then he must have desperately wanted it and have more money than sence, but if you asked fior that and got it then fair play to you  ....... The general price of Rugby League programmes has dropped through the floor in the last couple of years I think , you only have to look at Football programme prices as well to see this , but still there are the same old dealers asking for the Moon on E-Bay and such like for Older programmes

The only Oldham Homes I need against saints or Liverpool are ;

Oldham v St Helens   16/04/53

Oldham v Liverpool City  19/09/53

Oldham v St Helens   07/11/53

Oldham v Liverpool City   Prog No4     14/09/54

Oldham v Salford No 15 ? 17/01/59                    (  Both Postponed  )

Oldham v St Helens No.15 ? 24/01/59                 (  Only 1 prog. issued No15 )

I would be interetsed in any of the above 5 programmes

P.S Saints defence tonight and last week has been very poor ,

sorry, don't have any of those.

take you point with dealers - silly prices. I tend to trade with fellow collectors and use word of mouth. ebay is okay but it's normally 5 times  year that i get bargain!

I don't think the prices have dropped really. certainly pre 1950 (as per your links) £10 - £20 for poor quality programmes.

pre war for some clubs, you can pick up stuff for £15 but the rare stuff or the defunct clubs are holding their prices.

the auction i agree with you i thought  £200 max and sell on what i don't need but £600+  either a dealer or a mad collector!!

for the one I had, it was actually a part ex with cash so he DEFINITELY wanted it!!  i got a rare pre war item + £80 so I'm well pleased.

out of interest what is your valuation for London Highfield v Oldham 20/12/33?

cheers

I recon possibly £70 max I would not pay any more , I have had that particular programme for 30 years or so , I picked up a dozen or so London Highfireld at the time from someone in London . I used to write snail mail to people that had letters in Tom Webb's Collectors Corner in the Rugby Leaguer .... Tom used to live in Royton . . . . near where I used to live at one time . . . .  apart from the internet and E-Bay now I have no idea of where to find any Rugby League programmes at all.  The lists that Richard Bailey used to be good as well as his auctios with Andy Wheelright ......... but since Richard passed away thats dissapeared as well. I picked up an Oldham v Broughton Moor in RL Cup in the early 40's recently but paid more than I really wanted , but programmes like that one dont come up very often. It all depends on what money is available at the time if you aint got much then its hard luck . . . lol ... One programme I regret not bidding on was a Pontypridd v Oldham ( around 1927 i think )  ...it went for £270 at the time around 4 years ago :shout:

Morning, Could I mention I was talking to Andy Wheelwright last week and he asked me if I would pass on his details, as he still has the the large collection of RL programmes for sale from the 1950's to 2007 which were in the RLCF catalogues and web page, He can be contacted at - a.wheelwright@btinternet.com

Is Andy thinking of putting a list into a catalogue or online?

See the above link in the "Football Programme Forum" for discusion on Programme prices , there is a section also for "Other Sports" in which Rugby League is included

Yes mate, Ive seen you on there. TBH that's what inspired me to try and get something going on here.

If we could get the dealers and auction houses  as well as the RLCF to post about stuff on here, that'd be great.......
