Yesterdays game at Keighley was probably the most emotional game I have ever attended.

The very act of going to play at Cougar Park is still a big deal to the players, committee and fans of Coventry Bears.

In terms of where we have come from in 17 or so years to play at a "big" club like Keighley is a major step up.

So, as if that isn't a big enough event we went along yesterday as very much the supporting act on a very significant day for the Cougars.

I was so proud of the way that our players acted before, during and after the game.

The Man of the Match sponsors selection was the whole Keighley squad, and that was fitting but the Coventry Bears players too deserved an accolade for playing their part in the proceedings.

Anyone looking at the score might think that it was easy for Keighley but in truth it was only in the last ten minutes with the Bears down to 12 men and hurting from injuries that the game went from a quite respectable 34-10 to a 52-10 loss.

Certainly the people around me were impressed by the free flowing, passing rugby that we employed when we were able.

Events like today, in front of a big partisan crowd, will be of benefit in the long run.

Well done Coventry Bears players, you did the club and city proud yesterday.
