amm
was last time we went, but it might have gone up - dearest club we've been to and you've no chance of getting past Nasey Whilst I do not suffer fools gladly, I will always gladly make fools suffer A man is getting along on the road of wisdom when he realises that his opinion is just an opinion
neutralfan
Only £2-50 into a premier division game so whats going on at Underbank?I will go to Drig versus Stanningley instead on principle cos it doesnt make sense to pay £4 into a division 2 game. TheDuke
i think its good value for money, some of the effort and commitment from amateur players if far above their professional counterparts
neutralfan
Your missing the point! I never questioned the effort and commitment of amateur players?I would like to know why its £4 into Underbank but £2-50 or £2 in everywhere else?
Li0nhead
i think its good value for money, some of the effort and commitment from amateur players if far above their professional counterparts I think they mean the going rate for a conference game is £2-£3 which most of us are happy to pay. Not been to to Underbank as a conference side (played against them in the Pennine though) but I think what they are trying to say is why are they near double what is the going rate to watch. My view is clubs have expenses they need to cover, those long away trips, ref fees, subscriptions, kits, fines and a million other things I as a spectator and ex player has no idea about etc and there is a going rate to watch. Fair enough if they have a supporter base willing to pay what they charge but it is well above the going rate.
TheDuke
Yes, it is slightly above the others, but if everyone charged 4 quid then I don't think too many would grumble

TheDuke
that's just ridiculous, the league above NCL can be upto 16 or 17 quid, and it can be argued that the NCL offers better quality contests at the top end £4 is not much more than a pint of beer and will for most people be less than half and hours earnings for a afternoon out, I cant see the problem with it, clubs were charging £2 for the last 15 years

terryg
The rfl fix prices for t1 & 2. There is no justification for an amateur club to charge double what their own supporters pay when going to away games. how many home speccies turn up week by week? Easy to assume that it would be double at the right price. or is it that for the attendances they have to empoy stewards and police.
costa
£4 is towards the top end but compare it to a night at the cinema, or a McDonald's even - good value in my book, though £2-3 with a programme is the norm. It's double figures to watch York v Skolars on Sunday at Heworth, so who's getting the better deal? Underbank has always been a warm club - a unique ground and friendly, knowledgeable folk. Top end, yes, but worthwhile.
TheDuke
It's less than half an hour's wages to most people for an afternoon out. A pint of Guinness is getting on for 4 quid If the club deems that's what's needed to cover it's running costs then that's fine
Cardigan Arms
Personally I put £5 in home and away which is great value with a programme included in most cases.4 to 5 quid should be the going rate in my opinion which is nought in this day and age. The equivalent level of non league footnal would cost between 7 and 15 quid plus extra for a programme.

deluded pom?
I agree, it seems most clubs are wary of upping their prices but IMO they are under pricing themselves. Three quid or three fifty would be a good compromise. Price of a pint and still great value.
BigCliff
I went to watch Drig & Stanningley. £2 for a good game of rugby and quality programme. If the cost was £5 i'd still go watch any game of NCL; but then i don't think a lot of other people would... at grounds like Drig, you can watch the game without having to walk though a gate as such, so they can't force people to pay. shrek
I'd say £4 is a fair price all clubs should be able to charge, even then the National Conference would offer superb value for money. As a comparable in Wigan, last season the local non-league football team was charging £6 for an adult to watch North West Counties Division 1 football, which is the very bottom level of the football pyramid and as much as I love my football it comes no where near offering the entertainment value found at any NCL game I've seen. Hopping Mad
I'd say £4 admission - including programme, as is customary in the NCL - is still great value for money. I started watching the NCL in the late 1990s - and most clubs were charging £2 back then. The bulk don't seem to have increased their prices! Compared to being charged a ludicrous £15-£17 to watch League One - in the case of most clubs, only a slightly better standard of RL - the NCL offer is outstanding. overtheborder
Pats is 2.50 in (with a Programme)... Miners is either the same or 3 quid, I like it how it is as it is amateur sport after all, no point overplaying it (although it is the most entertaining amateur sport I've seen). They still have bills to pay, amateur or not. As Hopping Mad points out, admission charges haven't changed much in twenty five years but inflation has certainly upped the bills in the same time frame. Not arguing against the price going up as I don't think 4 quid is unreasonable but other amateur sports such as football and cricket don't charge admission and still manage (cricket clubs can actually pay professional players in amateur leagues).
