Duel reg .. Players only training once a week disrupting the team .. Locals needing game time .. Questioning whether Phil actually knows what he's doing ... I've said this all season and got unreal amounts of abuse about stating the obvious !

Sorry to disappoint you pal but that's hardly rocket science.. of course it's not good.  It is good though that we're talking about who we'd rather have in the team than as in the past when we've dragged some kid out of Uni to play or had Gaskell on the wing .

I actually like Tierney and I liked Burke but most of the others are poor, and everybody says they'd like to see Duerden every week, only PV knows why we don't .

people have agreed with you for a while on DR that it's not ideal and has been disappointing in genral. You need to look at the bigger picture though.

I think Phil does know what he's doing , and what he's trying to do within the limitations of what he has to work with . Players ultimately decide things and he was there last year when a group not as healthy as this produced much better . He can't go on there and play the ball , pass , catch and kick . I'm sure he works on structures , but basic skills need to be nailed first by our lot

He's been dropping them all season but seems to have a guaranteed place in the team!

he never dropped any yesterday, but let a ball bounce that was criminal. And they strolled in the corner. He also got drove back a good 20 metres on one of our only decent attacking positions in the 1st half.

i think Connor Farrell really tightens us up in defence. Never mind dual reg I have no idea how mcavoy gets in ahead of duerden on form. He bought an over the top dummy off Beswick for there 2nd try and fell off the tackle for 2 of there others. He's bang out of form and looks like he needs a break.

I remember that . Classic beswick- Farrell and Liam were standing there looking at each other like David Copperfield had just made an elephant disappear ! Then higham came on ..and Penky is injured !

Not bad.

He did but the whistle blew so it didn't matter although he wouldn't have known that when he dropped it.

He's not looking as solid or comfortable as last year , and it's sort of symptomatic of our team really

the thing I think most of us struggle to understand is that we have plenty of cover there, forrester and Carter and both specialist full backs and offer far more in attack. And there's also tierney who I would be at least having a look at there if viewers dosent have the confidence in the other 2.

Like most posters on here I also don't understand how the team is selected and why some lads don't seem to be getting a fair share of game time.

However, we have a coach who everyone was over the moon about when we signed him and I don't think anyone would call him a shrinking violet or someone to hide behind a bushell so I would think that he tells the lads who are not playing what they have to do to get in his team.   We also have two well respected local assistant coaches in Jonty Gorley and Craig Barker who, I'm sure, will also look after the local players interests.

Any problem we have is with Wigan and the DR system the way they see it and treat it.    We hear that we have got to do this and got to do that because Wigan say so but I don't honestly think anyone knows the truth of that.   Logic says that players who are fringe players at a SL club should be of a good standard and certainly up to playing well in the Championship.    What we have seen this season apart from Lewis Tierney and to a lesser degree, Connor Farrell, is players coming to play for us who don't want to be here and show it in their poor performances.   Wane himself treats DR like a punishment exercise like when he went public saying he would send Charnley up to Workington when he was off form.

With us having a small squad there was always going to be a time when we had to rely on one or two DR players when injuries struck and that means we are stuck with this system for the time being.    It is then up to our board of directors or whoever negotiates with Wigan to tell them that no matter what they think we are not their reserve team to be treat as they decide.   In the meantime I would like to see PV leave out completely the likes of Thornley and Lloyd and explain to Wane why they are left out - they are simply not interested in playing for Town.

I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave Hadfield - Independent 25th August 1996.

I back Phil in his selection of DR and the fact he sees the players more than anyone , but if someone obviously looks disinterested I think he should say , and has said ,, he doesn't want them again . Dudson last year ... I've seen Ian Thornley play a role in getting a team to a GF , and was looking forward to seeing him as he is quite a specimen . But his body language just wasn't acceptable at times

Well the thornley thing is all very odd, he was no1 centre until he got injured, so he's maybe worried about his injury and not putting his body on the line. If it isn't that then he's going totally the wrong way about showing wane he should be back in wigans 13.

if it is that he should never wear blue and white again. Injury or not putting you body on the line is part of the job description. Matty is often injured but when he plays he gives us everything. Lack of heart and balls is thornleys problem when playing for us.
