Doncaster suffered a third defeat to Workington Town this season as the hosts ran riot at Derwent Park thanks to a Jarrod Sammut inspired performance.

Town got off to a fine start, where inside three minutes former Bradford Bulls star Sammutt sent Scott Akehurst through a gap down the left side to open up the scoring.

A second try followed soon after, some great handling play from Alex Szostak and Jason Mossop enabled Brett Carter to go over in the right corner.  Carl Forber added the conversion to give the home side a 10-0 lead.

A superb solo try from Sammut extended Workington's lead in the 12th minute, he glided his way through the Dons defence beating four defenders to score.  Forber was again successful with the boot.

Things went from bad to worse for Doncaster when Matt Groat was sent to the sin bin and the hosts went further ahead when Danny Cowling knocked on, on the Workington line and Carter ran 70 metres, before the supporting Sammut went over for his second try.  Forber kicked Town into a 22-0 lead.

Jamie Doran made the scores 26-0 when he was allowed to score far too easily from close range, going over from dummy half and Forber again converted.

Doncaster pressed during the last ten minutes, forcing three drop outs and Workington had to defend ten consecutive sets in their own half, however Doncaster were unable to break through.

Half Time: Workington Town 28-0 Doncaster RLFC

After the break Town continued their dominance, Carter bundled his way over from close range for his second of the afternoon and Forber was again successful with the goal.

Ten minutes into the second half Sammut completed his hat-trick, Ryan Wright tried to intercept and was so close to doing so but fumbled and Sammut took advantage of the free-play, kicking through before touching down for the try.  Forber added the extras to give the hosts a 40 point advantage.

A great run from Tom Walker saw him burst through the Dons line and the big forward was held up just short.  From the play the ball man of the match Sammut then sent Szostak over for Town's ninth try, before Forber added the conversion.

Town hit the 50 point barrier in the 60th minute, Sammut's kick to the corner was met by Elliot Miller in the left corner who caught and scored.  Forber made the score 52-0.

Miller added a second before right at the death Carter completed his hat-trick to ensure it was another miserable trip to Cumbria for Doncaster.
