my first time at Rochdale this season on Saturday, as I usually stick to Oldham.

TBF there was an over exuberant section of the crowd - but they cut out the profanities when asked to by the Mayfield official.

The game was hard but fair and the ref average - for both sides.

I also heard a number of Wath brow people giving some abuse to the ref, especially when it was clear they would lose, but the worst was a WBH member of staff who called the ref a 'f**cking cheat' as they entered the changing rooms at half time.all in all though a good game to watch.

I could not agree more Davo5.

The only defeats that Mayfield have suffered this season are when it has been an arm wrestle in the forwards. They play an open attacking game as proved by the number of points scored.

They are no way a dirty team.

Get real pal.

So leading with the elbow, punches to the nether region, halfbacks hit after the ball has gone and an inability to tackle below the nose is ok then, sorry my mistake,it must be as one of your officials called the obscene behaviour of your fans "JUST RUGBY"

A lot depends on the man in the middle,a strong ref,I fancy miners footballing ability to get them home, anything like the one in charge on Saturday at Rochdale and I think Mayfields strong arm tactics might overpower Leigh.

Referee appointed for this weekends game: http://www.nationalconferenceleague.co.uk/preview/LGM5371231

your correct there Barbara ,he plays like he is 10 years younger does mr calland.......although he does like to ref the game at the same time.....I watched Mayfield v siddal twice this year ,and have to say Mayfield have a fantastic kicking game via the scrum half butterworth, think they scored 5 tries from astute kicks in 2 games

Matt Calland has been one of the stand out players for us this season. He even scored a near length of the field try on one match.

As the coach to Mayfield he has got them playing a open attractive brand of rugby. There have been some fabulous games there this season.

I'm looking forward to this game and will pop across the Pennines to watch it. Always enjoyed my trips to Twist Lane this season.

As a former referee myself I'll reserve judgement on the officials until after I've watched the game. I always like to see a game where the referee is anonymous. The games about the players on the park and a referees there to facilitate them playing hard and fair. I usually find opinions on referees performances on here are sometimes misplaced if they are associated with a club. I'm assuming dinosore may have been on the wrong end of a result/decision or two judging by his comments.

i would say completely the opposite, possibly the worst ref in the ncl, in my opinion should only ever be on a premier division ground as a paying spectator.

Im sure Mr Calland will be on hand to tell him where he's going wrong.
