Steve Slater
Can you remember how you felt about Penney scoring that try Steve, did you feel it was unjust on the day or took it on the chin ?I couldn't get past the poor performance by Fev on the day. I would much rather have no Dual Reg and a fairer distribution of central funding with something like a £50K differential between league positions so the clubs at the bottom end of the table could be more competitive without D/R. I don't blame Rovers by using it as a way of making up the £500K difference between what they and Halifax received.
distantdog
dont get it do you, we tried to stop all teams doing it but you wouldnt, if you didnt do it we wouldnt Ah ok, so because we did it two years ago, you have to do it now?
The Phantom Horseman
I think in Kyran's case the dual reg thing is a bit of a red herring. The fact that Sharp recalled Ben Blackmore, who didn't seem part of his long-term plans, for the Shield play-offs last year suggested that he didn't see Kyran as a first-choice wing at this stage and you'd think that if we hadn't signed a DR agreement with a team who clearly had a very useful third-string winger likely to be available bar injury (Handley), we would have made another wing signing elsewhere. Hopefully Kyran will see that he should get some chances at some stage this season. He's probably next in line not only if Handley/Turner get injured but also if either Hall or Briscoe are unavailable for Leeds. Worth pointing out that Etu Uaisele, Tommy Saxton, Gareth Potts, Jonny Pownall, Elliot Kear, and Alex Brown who are all proven wingers at this level were all not selected by their teams on Sunday. When Bradford have all their wings fit they will have Caro, Clare, Etu, Danny Williams & Johnny Campbell all fighting for 2 places, a few of the other teams such as Halifax have at least four proven experienced wings in their squad so Kyran might still get more playing time as the season progresses than many wings around the league. ROVERS FOREVER
Got to take your hat off to Oxy boy. He takes some stick on here lol. Fax will do well this year to be honest. I think fev will do what fax did last year and turn to great form mid season and it will carry over to the next season. We need another hooker. oldrover
have i missed it, or is there still no comment from oxy about faxs dual reg with south wales crusaders. and as the senior team, are they just using SWC to keep their players fit and telling them who they have to play. joe mullaney is a god the only good tiger is a stuffed tiger

Mark H
I think he's letting the team do the talking for the moment then he'll be back with a vengeance,we know that he does not need encouraging. In all seriousness though,I would be interested in hearing his views on Sheffields set up at their new abode after Friday nights game with them. He'll also be back for the Challenge Cup because Rhinos won't want any of their players being cup-tied. It might be the same for the 8's too, dependant on what rules will apply on whether they can play in both competitions?

I think there will be a few of the "fringe"/younger players getting a run-out or two in the Challenge Cup again as our first game will be the week before we play Sheffield in the League and the 2nd game, if we make it, the week before we play Leigh. Steve Slater
One thing I have noticed is that apart from this weekend, whenever Fev play one of last years middle 8 clubs Leeds Rhinos play either Thursday or Friday night, which might make them more amenable to release players, because they could always recall them beforehand in the case of late withdrawal of any their match day squad. The Blues Ox
Haha really dont know much realistically about how specialist wing play and finishing off is , do you . I was a half back or occasional winger so i have a little idea, then again when I played on the wing I just saw it as putting the ball down over the line. have i missed it, or is there still no comment from oxy about faxs dual reg with south wales crusaders. and as the senior team, are they just using SWC to keep their players fit and telling them who they have to play. My thoughts on dual reg - its appalling and needs scrapping and is open to abuse by the parent club and serves nothing more to help them and on most occasions cause a hindrance to the lower club. On Fax dual reg - I think its great that our fringe players get chance to player at a higher level than they would do in the reserves and I think we should abuse the hell out of it for our own gain. Steve Slater
I'm not surprised the full time squad won easily, at this stage of the season their handling should be much slicker and their moves better rehearsed, while part-timers will have had no option but to put a lot of their time in concentrating on fitness. It showed at Odsal last week, those kicks and the try from the scrum came from the the extra time put in at the training ground. It will even up later in the season. distantdog
aye that warm weather training does you no good when you've got to go to batley at end of January. Rugby leagues a tough sport, you pamper your players like a load of pansys they play like pansys. l am not sure it would be fair to describe Leigh as pansies. Our team just met them in the physicality stakes, which meant we ended the game with a lot of walking wounded. And that is where the full-time status will tell, Leigh will be able to spend more time on recovery, unlike our lads.
