Half Way to Next Season

It's ten weeks since the play off final and ten weeks until we play London Broncos on the first day of the new season proper. Hopefully it won't be long until we finally get to know the plans for 2016.  I really hope so for the sake of the bloke who runs my local chippy.  Let me explain:

AJ's Fisheries (yeah I know, it's a Yorkshire thing) is run by Andy, a guy from Keighley who's adopted Leeds as his RL club.  His chippy is decked out in Leeds' colours but I forgive him since he does a mean fish and chips.  Anyway, during the course of last season I'd pay my weekly visit and I'd tell him about Oldham's progress.  As the season got to the exciting conclusion I reckon he'd adopted Oldham as his second, maybe third club.  He was checking scores on Sunday afternoon and looking for us, ha!

Since the end of the season we started talking about the situation regarding where we'll be playing our games.  He's fully up to speed about Boundary Park, the deemed unsuitability of Whitebank, the fanciful takeover rumour and all the other morsels of information bouncing around.  It got to the stage where I'd walk in and he'd look up and just say "Do you know where you're playing yet" and I'd reply, "No, still nothing".  Well things have now taken a new turn.  What happens now is that he looks up, raises an eyebrow, I shake my head and he rolls his eyes.

Even the guy at my chippy is getting brassed off.  For the sake of Andy, we need to be put out of our misery and then I can chat to him about how I think we'll perform in the higher league.

I get the impression that now even the most positive and enthusiastic fans amongst us are getting a little aggrieved by the situation with the club.It makes you wonder if we'll have a club to come back to unless something remarkable happens.People are fed up with the silence and lack of information from the club.Surely there must be someone involved with the club must read this forum.Things really have gone from boom to bust.Kick off isn't that far away so time is certainly running out for a fruitful conclusion.

How do we know McMahon has been involved? Have we heard that straight from the horses mouth? Do we even know for certain the Council are involved. And even if they are, that doesn't mean McMahon.

I'd be surprised if the rugby club is even on his radar......apart from owing rent.

I wrote to Jim McMahon some time ago and received a helpful reply. What this said was that Oldham Council would prefer ORLFC to be playing at BP (SportsDirect.comPark). I knew this from previous conversations with current and former councillors but without any willingness on CH's part to enter negotiation there was no point in publicising this. Now that CH has entered talks with Simon Corney it does no harm to reveal the Council's preferred option. However, Jim McMahon also said that the Council would find it difficult to provide any financial input given the horrendous cutbacks to services they had to implement as a result of cuts to council funding made by the government.

I have no information regarding talks between CH and SC. However, I have myself spoken with SC who is not averse to groundsharing subject to certain conditions being met. One concern is wear and tear on the pitch but of more significance is the cost of staging RL in terms of stewarding, ground maintenace, parking supervision, clearing up etc. etc. Latics obviously have problems of their own and cannot afford to lose money on staging RL. It stands to reason that SC would want financial guarantees and that he should be able to trust CH to fulfil his side of any bargain.

I still believe Chris has missed an opportunity to involve skilled gifted and willing people who love ORLFC with a passion and would help to move things in the right direction...

As for my small involvement I still believe It was worth a try  I am surprised at the outcome as it all sounded so plausible and positive for a little while...

I`m probably feeling cross with myself for having expectations that have proved to be unachieveable and that to some degree undermines the good intentions and hopefulness I once held

.

It is Chris`s club and he will continue to do it his way is the only solid conclusion I have arrived at...good luck to him with that one because the clock is ticking.........

Oldham Council would prefer to get another £30 million off Central Govt in grants, Oldham Council would prefer Latics in the Premier League, Jim MacMahon will have his plate full of other stuff now and will have no time for anything other that that, Simon Corney has his hands full stopping Latics freefall dropping into the bottom League for first time since the 1970, so God help us if he gets his hands on ORLFC...........Only CH will have any time to be concerned about ORLFC .....and as we know he doesnt seem really that much bothered from what we have all seen over several weeks now

I agree wholeheartedly with sheep.I don't think Chris Hamilton would know an opportunity if it sat on him and wriggled. There are probably individuals out there that would have been able to help in various capacities but he has probably missed the boat now.The people who met with him were treated like mushrooms as are the fans.I genuinely think the end is near for the club and its not a very nice thought. Unless something happens and quick I don't think there will be enough fans still interested for the club to carry on.The council probably don't want to know due to his attitude. He is becoming even more isolated from the fans that are left due a lack of information.

I tried and failed, I had the best interests of the club at heart, I was totally prepared to put time into it but my family takes precedence now, I supported Oldham since the 80s my family has been connected with the club for nearly 100 years but the ground issue is the final straw.

Ch loses two weeks at Christmas and New year therefore he has eight weeks to publish the ticket prices confirm season tickets

Not looking good

Tonight's Chron is reporting that the Latics players had their pay delayed prior to the defeat at Crewe over the weekend.  CH may be boxing clever with Corney because he knows that things aren't so rosy over at Boundary Park.

And its not been too rosy at the Latics for some time now...I just dont see how they will fill the new stand if they carry on performing as they have been..fans watch Triers and winners...(which is why Mr Hamilton has got away with it for so long as he has got that covered nicely!)

"Boxing clever" ? This is the man who thinks it's acceptable in the year 2015 for a semi pro Rugby League club to play their home games in a glorified field.

The chron is always reporting on the trials and tribulations at latics, they are not afraid to post things of a negative impact regarding oafc, apart from the usual signings at orlfc, no bad news is ever reported, late tax payments, ground problems, fans worries etc, wonder why this is? Or have I missed it somewhere that CH now does the Oldham chron reports?

I heard a rumor that CH is actually going to enter Oldham Roughyeds into the Fantasy League and so has no reason to actually get a real pitch for the club to play on, thats why we havnt heard anything at all and he has no worries . . . . Clever chap is CH ......he has it all covered
