Attendances

Recommended Posts

I know we have had declining attendances for the last 3 or 4 years for the majority of clubs-but is there a deliberate attempt to hide this fact this year.I have been on the RFL,Sky Sports, and the RFL sites and there is no mention of any of the crowds so far this season.Have I missed an area where this information is available?

I don't really see any great decline here, there was a load of RFL spin last year that caused a big debate, but happily this year we can just accept we have the audience we have.

If attendances were censored then we'd all take that as a cover up to hide something....

Someone posted elsewhere what a good crowd there was on Thursday but like you I can't seem to find the actual figure anywhere online.

I saw it online yesterday as 16,600 when I looked summat else up.

Don't ask me what it was I was looking up as the Whalebone ale did for me.

With Halloween coming up I decided to go to my local fancy dress shop to see if I could get a Dracula costume. After a few minutes the assistant handed me a Hull KR shirt asking "Is this suitable?", I replied "I think you may have misheard me, I said I wanted to look like a count."

After a bit of digging around on Twitter and club websites:

12,269 Hull FC - Salford

16,168 Leeds - Warrington

13,436 Wigan - Catalans

10,408 Saints - Huddersfield

10k+ expected at Hull KR. Probably say 5k at Waley.

10k+ average opening weekend not too bad

Not been in the 'bone for many a year. Do you enter via Wincolmlee or Lincoln St?

Wincolmlee mate, you should try it, you don't know what you're missing.

Quality real ales, pickled eggs, crisps and a black and white landlord.

Ullman, RoyBoy, my good self and a few others will be in for the Catalans fixture a week today if you fancy joining us.

I'd like to join you but, like the Riddler, I have to keep my identity secret.

Oh, we all do that, here we are walking down Wincolmlee en route to the pub.

Our disguises help us get through the pickled eggs aftermath as well.

I also have noted the disappearance of att. stats

Not being on Twitter I could find nothing anywhere.

And I also am not number obsessed but interested in crowds as part of the whole game experience.

Anywhere you go to where RL is the conversation crowds are always one of the main topics.

maybe blurred eyes too... at the match the loud speaker said 16,1xx that is One hundred and something, didn't hear what.   The rhinos web site says 16,168.

Wouldn't bother with that web site anyway given info was given but whomever reported a different number, unless the beer impacted yer eye too, that is.

The post says Wigan v Catalans game was around 1200 up on last year's crowd.

Pretty self explanatory I would say

But this rears away from this post's original topic/question somewhat

is that for first round or vs catalan...

Dunno, but it was a certainly a lot higher than last year's Catalans' game. If our first home game was against Brisbane it was a lot lower of course. As Parky wrote, it was fine - neither a triumph nor disaster.

One thing that's not mentioned is the number of times SKY show the same sidse on TV . If I was a fan of St Helens, Wigan, Leeds or Warrington I could expect to see all the big games involving my club for free if I was a SKY subscriber.

So if you want to avoid the wind,.rain, and chilly M62 evenings or if the prospect of finding youself seated next to an individual with body odour issues for the season does not appeal then. Sit down in the armchair after a hard days work, pull open a can and sup ale while watching the game - much cheaper and no public transport issues in the evening either.

Perhaps this is one reason why Wigan are seling four packs - For fans who want to see the games that are not televised?

http://www.wiganwarriors.com/news/2016-02-02-plenty-get-flexi

You could even get a programme subscription meaning you saw the whole of your clubs home matches and many away even though your actual visits to the ground were few.

Back in the Richard Lewis era SKY had a brain wave to purt all matches on Super League Fridays on the red button.before some sanity came to the fore from Red Hall who realised if it was all available via SKY who would turn up?

Yet in the 8/8/8 you could see it all even if some of it was on SKY Internet and on Friday you got both Wigan v Catalans, live highlight of St Helens - Huddersfield and all the tries from Hull v Salford.- a neat little Friday Night package.

Now if you are far from the geographical seclusion of the M62 like myself it's Hobson's choice but how many in "heartalnds" now do as I have advocated here and support their club mainly from the armchair these days and is this really doing anything for the game ?
