distantdog
Yes it was a tough one, but don't think Leigh over stepped the mark. I was most proud of the way we physically responded in the final 20 minutes as we looked beaten up midway through the second half.
Piggy's mate
Agree DD I thought when they went 22 -12 we looked blown. Micky H was controlling the game and it looked gone. Phean.. phemo...great effort by the whole team to drag themselves back into it and the last five minutes wow. Randi must have felt like poop Touch Rugby W(h)inger and part-time Super Hero (Thursday mornings by appointment) BATLEY BULLDOGS RLFC
greavesy
Very very tough game and have to agree how well our boys did to stand up to the physicality of the match. I thought Mr Hewer was very generous to the Leigh defence as they were often allowed to play a very shallow 10 on defence. The 40/ 20 won the game for us . How often have we been able to say that. Leigh were stood 2-3 yards in front of Hewer for virtually the entire second half. I thought he had a pretty poor game, but at least he's consistent. fredm
Thought Hewer was ok, as you say he was the same for both sides. Also thought that the touch judges had good games, for a change they got involved. Gave the fumble in the in goal by Leigh which caused a drop out as opposed to a restart and also gave some forward passes as well. With regards to the 40/20, how many times over the last 2/3 seasons have we been bemoaning the fact that we never, ever, tried to do one. Now we have Brambani and Walker we suddenly seem to want to try them. Do they make these decisions on their own back or was Leatherbarrow etc told not to do it? distantdog
I don't think it was a case of being told to or not. It seems to me that it is more a case of seeing the opportunity and being able to act on it. Rugby intelligence l suppose and being able to read a game. Brambani and Walker have been a thorn in our side for years. Two class acts, who will get the best out of your willing, honest players. They will make a huge difference to your team! bulldog4ever
I don't think they were told not to I just don't think they were capable... Leatherbarrow was shocking ball in hand and southernwood hasn't got the distance in him... What a differences a 40/20 makes though, that one moment changed the whole momentum of the game
PKK
Brambani and Walker have been a thorn in our side for years. Two class acts, who will get the best out of your willing, honest players. They will make a huge difference to your team! They have made a huge difference to our team. They've also made a big difference to last years stand off, Southernwood. The results were there to see yesterday as the huge amount of effort (that we we also put in last year) wasn't wasted.
