Mike Garforth
It was. We were unlucky to come away without any points. I still can't believe ash handleys knock on wasn't given. I don't know what was up with Gledhill today but was only poor player on the batley side.

Robin Evans
Cracking game. Great enthusiasm.... and a good showing from the batley faithful "I love our club, absolutely love it". (Overton, M 2007)
Piggy's mate
Excellent game good defensive stint by Fev second half for some reason we lost our composure and wern't able to build the pressure that would have given us the game. Poor ref but it shows Batley are not a fluke and the best team lost today imo Touch Rugby W(h)inger and part-time Super Hero (Thursday mornings by appointment) BATLEY BULLDOGS RLFC
Phil Loxton
Batley are no fluke. Great Fev defence and they too are not to be under estimated. Good game

I expected it to be hard.... It was!! I love that type of attritional rugby. A thoroughly enjoyable game between to good very well matched sides. Awesome effort on a pudding of a pitch from both teams "I love our club, absolutely love it". (Overton, M 2007)

Awesome effort on a pudding of a pitch from both teams Nothing whatsoever between the teams, the difference was Briggs' kicking, which meant that we had the ball in positions too far away to be as effective as perhaps we could have been, Just one of those results which could genuinely have gone either way. The Phantom Horseman
I thought it was Craven's kicking that was the standout. Agree the game could have gone either way. Tough nuts to crack are those Bulldogs.

Tough nuts to crack are those Bulldogs. Uphill thought Briggs kicked well. I think this season we will be a little more than tough nuts, and should be there or thereabouts come the end of the season, i.e. challenging for that 4/5/6th position, alongside Fev, Dewsbury etc.
fev4evatiggerneva
Great defensive effort from Fev. Think Batley looked the better team with ball in hand, but Fev played pretty smart playing there sets out and getting to the kick making batley play out of there own 20. Fev looked better attacking wise last week with craven linking with briggs and thackrey, but Sharpe saw him as our best option at 9 today. Very pleased to have come away with the win, cause that's a very good batley side. Brown and Hirst look a handful in the pack 2 good half's and plenty of threat out wide. Think both sides will benefit from the dryer grounds. Good luck for the rest of the season.
9' oller
Horrendous game. Not for the purists. Stop start with spilled ball and rips aplenty. Ref was one of those who felt the limelight should of been about him. Policed the ruck when he felt like it but forward passes and 10m defensive line were a complete lottery! We arent a spoiling or dirty side but sure were potrayed as an undisciplined set up 'Shaw cross juniors, Birkenshaw, Mirfield, Heckmondwike Panthers, Stainland Stags and then the Heavy woolen donkeys... Robin Evans
Gi' o'er 9 Oller. You're much better than that. The ref is what refs are. If we all just whinged on about the ref it solves nowt. That was a cracking game. I predicted a close batley win. Had you have scored at the end I would still have said it was a cracking game from the old school. I can understand your disappointment but that was a cracking effort from Batley "I love our club, absolutely love it". (Overton, M 2007)
9' oller
Dont agree told lad. The amount of defence meant our attack was slow. The offloads were lapse and non effective. As a spectacle it was boring and frustrating 'Shaw cross juniors, Birkenshaw, Mirfield, Heckmondwike Panthers, Stainland Stags and then the Heavy woolen donkeys... Robin Evans
We all see different things don't we? I said at 75 mins how much I'd enjoyed it with dogs in our 20 pushing for our line.
