Just a thought about who people think are the best ex proffessionals that have played in the conference?

personally i think Terry Smirk, when he was at Ideal Isberg, was one of the most skillful players that has appeared in the conference and he had one of, if not the best kicking game around.
Ideal were certainly a different team when they had him on the field.
other names that come to mind are john mcatee of eccles, anthony murray of leigh east and mike woods of thatto heath.

any thoughts?
Is he having a laugh?, are you having a laugh?

I would agree with your observation Mighty Mayfielder and would add Matt Calland to the list and note both players as key to a resurgence of the Mayfield team thus far this season.

Whilst i enjoy the predictions for Premier this season's Division One race is already shaping up to be a classic !!

Slightly off topic but Dean Sampson looked a bit tasty for Hunslet Warriors against Shaw Cross "A" last Saturday. I know he's knocking on a bit but surely he's better than Yorkshire League Division3 wink.gif

So Dean Sampson is playing for Hunslet Warriors now is he?

What's their team like now they aren't in the Conference? Did they beat Shaw Cross 'A'???

I think there were a few of last years first team in there and they were too big and too strong for what is a young A team at Cross (I think there were about 8 players stood watching nursing injuries, and one of the young lads dislocated his knee towards the end of the game as well)

We held them reasonably well for the first 25 but they had 2 good spells either side of half time and ran out 34-08 winners.
