UK has most breweries per head of population

11 September 2014 - 03:08 PM

I thought I'd post some good news for a change. According to the latest edition of CAMRA'S Good Beer Guide the UK has the largest number of breweries per head of population in the world. It also points out that real ale is bucking the trend in a declining drinks market taking an ever increasing share year on year. A far cry from my early drinking days back in the late 1970s when a hand pump was a rare thing to see in a pub.

Oh, and my local has made it into the last 16 of their Pub of the Year for this year for the second time running. :)

The NHS, an American's view

Interesting blog from an American Doctor who, reluctantly, had to "resort" to using the NHS. http://drjengunter.w...emergency-room/

Some good comments as well.

Wembley travel disruption for Challenge Cup final (merged threads)

03 August 2014 - 08:04 AM

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but travel into and out of London from the north west by train is going to awful for this year's Challenge Cup final. There is massive engineering work planed for the Watford area and no trains will be running directly into or out of Euston for the whole weekend.
