Indeed. So then you have the situation whereby intelligent, educated, intellectual individuals who have thought through the matter thoroughly, find themselves with compelling evidence to have faith in a devine being that they cannot see. Those who have thought through their faith commitment have faith because they believe they have evidence in which to trust.
I've generally found if I tell an intelligent, educated religious person that I'd be happy to believe in a god if the clouds parted quickly and an angel descended and then spoke to me about heaven and the fella in the distance above the clouds called god. I then ask them what would make them not believe and they all say "nothing" ie their claims are not falsifiable, their claims are not really based on evidence at all. They will tell you their claims are based on evidence but really that's not the case. Nothing at all will change their minds.
