Jason Robinson - Sporting Heroes

13 April 2015 - 11:37 AM

This was a programme profiling Jason Robinson's career with interviews with the man himself, Andy Farrell and the inventor of Rugby, Clive Woodward.  Reasonable programme, although it dwelt too much on the ponderous code for my liking.

A couple of things that were said though surprised me.  Firstly, Jason interviewed towards the end of his career said that he did not know the rules of union so he could never become a coach - then he became one at Sale! Quite extraordinary and damning that the world's greatest ever union player doesn't know the rules because they are too complicated

He then went on to say that he had a great love for Sale Cuckoo's (he didn't say the same thing about Wigan BTW :() but that he would never go back there because of the way he was sacked as coach.  Apparently, he just received a phone call one evening saying don't bother turning up tomorrow.  That for me sums up the attitude of the people involved in Sale's administration - if they can treat their greatest ever player in such a callous and derisory manner just imagine what they could do to another organisation.......................................................................................................such as Salford!
