  1. Short drop out was risky, but it's the wing man who ed up, should've caught it.
  2. They'd just been pumped at home, they're hardly likely to be soul of the party afterwards.
  3. I don't think anyone has an issue with councils investing in communities, infrastructure and facilities. There is clearly a long term benefit of that. No issue with Salford Council securing the AJ Bell for example. Council funds going into the daily operations of a club is another matter though.
  4. Whataboutary. That isn't funding daily operation of the clubs. Without it they don't go under.
  5. Not this again. Salford got a purpose built stadium for free, and quite rightly snapped the hand off Peel/Salford Council to utilise it. Trinity and Cas played out of dumps and were financially impacted because of it and the lack of resource fundamentally ended up with Trinity's relegation and Cas' near relegation last season. Salford are still signing NRL players whilst getting loans from a fiancially strapped local authority. The food and beverage isn't going to plug that financial gap and they'll be knocking on their fans doors for more cash as the season progresses, or the council again. They are well and truly spinning plates in the hope one doesn't drop, but that will catch up with the club in the end when the magic money tree no longer bears fruit. On the field they are one of the more entertaining teams to watch in the league. Off field they are a disaster.
  6. Player sales, fan investment, council loans, not far off £1m deficit. That's a large hole to fill, or a lot of pints to sell. Hope you're thirsty Salford fans.
  7. Seems to be a bit of bending the agreement somewhat, fundamentally, all three clubs will have been doing this, but with this decision Fev can use the £2m however they want citing the foundation was as reason for the funding. Have to say I have no idea how Trinity are using/have used the funding. Maybe they went down the same path.
  8. Imagine whatever is used now will come off the £12.2m. The £2m was for the benefit of the community but its a case of switching funding round.
  9. Concussion spotters are/will be placed in grounds to look for such instances, plus the clubs doctors will also be on the lookout. It's not on the refs.
  10. In Currie's case, there are photos showing was he was holding his head, but the premise of what your are worried about is valid. We saw this with neck rubbing after a tackle. Percival being a prime offender, to get the refs attention, more so when a video ref was present. Its all on the MRP. They can nip this in the bud with how they handle the situation. If they double down then the slightest brush of head could see players staying down to get that advantage. The one hope I have is that the that players all seem equally dismayed by the decision so collectively they could self police each other.
  11. Perhaps an idea for the players instead of striking, take the ###### and collaborate to play a game at walking pace. That would certainly get more attention than not showing up. Maybe at Magic WKND? That's the only way to mitigate against accidental head knocks. In really I think the MRP can clear this up on Monday by advising the contact did not warrant a red card but would be given as a penalty in future so the refs know where the stand on that situation. Clearly Griffiths was unable to use common sense so needs to be saved from himself.
