The development will see the Sheffield Eagles Rugby League club move into a new complex which will feature a high quality synthetic pitch, a main stand seating 2,500, a 50 bed hotel, catering and hospitality areas and facilities developed in partnership with Sheffield second University Technical College (UTC). In addition, a new sustainable multi-purpose indoor community arena will be the future home of the Sheffield Sharks.
Former Sports Minister the Rt. Hon Richard Caborn, who is driving the project, said: “We’ve had a terrific response to the project from some well-known brand names. We are now having discussions with the likes of Siemens, Mitsubishi and Toshiba who attended a recent conference on the project along with the International Olympic Committee, the Cabinet office and Public Health England.”
The citywide information meeting will be held on Monday, November 10 at 6pm in the lecture theatre (room 6620) in the Sheffield Hallam University Adsetts Learning Centre, access via the Arundel Gate entrance (near the Odeon Cinema)
“We will be unveiling the master plan and providing an update on the project for the people of Sheffield,” said Mr Caborn.
There will be mini-presentations from Mr Caborn, Steve Haake (head of the Sports Engineering Research Group at Sheffield Hallam University), Sheffield Eagles, Sheffield Sharks and representatives from the University Technical College and a school that is to be built on the site.
