Are Frizell and Wallace et al really necessary anyway ?

#2924136 Samoa v Fiji

Posted by JonNgog on 03 May 2014 - 05:34 PM

A shame for Fiji as they were 4th at the World Cup on merit and, arguably, should have been in the 4N on that alone.

Saying that, Samoa could add Mose Masoe, Sia Soliola, BJ Leulia, Anthony Milford, Harrison Hansen and Steve Matai to that side. That being the case, they could be very competitive in the autumn if they get their heads right.

Fiji have been treated disgracefully in my opinion. The other teams to make the WC semi's were allowed into the Four Nations. They must be gutted.

#2921870 International expansion

That's not strictly true. The majority of the English, Australian, New Zealand and French teams come from their respective countries.

PNG , Fiji and Wales too.

#2921514 BBC coverage

great... another thread of whinging about a commentator.............. when it isnt Stevo it's Phil Clarke; when it isn't Ray French it is Jonathan Davies. Tedious in the extreme.

Jeez Rovers are getting a rough deal of it at the moment.

#2915506 12/04/14 - Catalan Dragons v Widnes Vikings KO 3.30pm (CET) (Sky Sports)

Posted by JonNgog on 12 April 2014 - 03:15 PM

Love watching the Dragons in this mood. Offloading at will, throwing the ball around. Great crowd in too, looks 10k plus, the USAP initiative looks to have worked.

#2914940 Four Nations Fixtures!

Posted by JonNgog on 11 April 2014 - 01:04 PM

Why have Fiji been made to 'qualify' - surely they did that by getting to the semi's in the World Cup???

#2912594 How can rugby league be improved, almost 6 months on from RLWC?

Posted by JonNgog on 07 April 2014 - 08:28 AM

It's too early to think about a lasting legacy but it's hard to be too convinced - there is still no scheduled top international competition for 2014 (4 Nations) which is very poor. In terms of Britain, the TV viewing figures for weekly Super League matches is massively up but who knows how this will last. Crowds started with a huge increase from last year but have levelled out a bit since. The RFL continues to be controversial as ever.

In my opinion the World Cup was a great event but it came at a time when our game is at something of a crossroads. Interesting times for sure.
