  1. SPOTY

I also haven't watched it for years or to be precise since Zara Tindall won it. I ask you why she was even on the list? Is the BBC the only channel to televise posh horse stuff? I'm a royalist by the way. I'll never be happy when my two fave sports are RL and Speedway.
  2. Happy Lancashire Day!!

If it has to be then I'll be a Lindale, Lancs draggy.
  3. Happy Lancashire Day!!

Too old for what? (Double entendre intended)
  4. Happy Lancashire Day!!

My birth certificate says I was born in Barrow in Furness, Lancashire. That'll do for me. I live in the isolated Peoples Republic of North Lancashire so happy Lancashire Day.
  5. I've a feeling that this game was in the back of The Coach's mind when he picked Bateman at centre. This is going to take a supreme defensive effort by one and all. This is a very generalistic view of the Aussie team but in the first part of the match it will be the classic five drives and a kick into the corners. Pin us in our own 22 so that the fifth tackle kick will only just pass the half way. Then their subsequent fifth tackle kick will be into the in-goal with the intention of forcing the drop-out and then the same again to build the pressure. Classic pressure tactics. In my opinion, where we have the advantage over the Aussies is in the size of our pack, add to that Jerry and Rhino as well then we may be able to blast our way out of our half and tire the opposing pack. Assuming that our pack can survive the attrition then the difference may be in the way the pivots manage the game. Cam Smith is probably the best there has ever been at this aspect of the game so this is where they have an advantage. James Roby and his decision making of when to run and when to pass may just be the key to our victory. He and Smith are completely different 9's. We cannot play their kind of game as I don't believe we have kickers of the same quality so our game may have rely on playing our way into their half. I wouldn't be surprised if Ratchford was drafted onto the interchange bench to allow Widdop to move into the halves if the games threatens to get away from us. If we bring our A Game into Lang Park we may surprise a few. I actually believe we will win but then I always expect Barrow Raiders to win every week. Only my opinion. I have been known, on many occasions, to be quite wrong. Regards, Moff.
  6. Players Visas for Toronto trip

Does anyone know of a radio station that will cover the game. Can't see Radio Sheepdip doing owt.
  7. york away

Why am I so surprised to learn of this? My two favourite sports are RL and Speedway and it seems that the governing bodies of both sports appear incapable of organising a fixture list that gives teams a regular weekly or fortnightly home fixture. It's no wonder attendances in both sports are dwindling.
  8. Andy Ellis

Outstanding player. During his time as a Raider I was unable to find any fault with his game or his attitude. Drove the team forward during the Championship winning season. It was no surprise to see Andy voted as the best Championship play of the 2009 season. I would welcome him back anytime.
  9. Do you hold the same opinions towards Robinson, Paul, Lydon, Connolly, BJ or is it just an anti Bradford Northern/any other team thing? For what it's worth I think Sam will stick it out to prove the doubters wrong though I wish he wouldn't for England RLs sake.
  10. Saturday's How are they for you?

I have always preferred Saturday evenings mesell. There's rockall on the telly (well any night, to be fair) so no competition there. Balmy summer evenings watching the sun go down. Would rather kickoff were 18.00hrs if I was picky, though I understand the need to accommodate our VSEL brethren and all that. A few bevvies in the bar. The team's winning. What more could we want? Keep it going lads.
  11. I'm just glad that the cowardly punch didn't result in a fractured skull or even the death of a player. I'd like to see you all try to spin that into any kind of positive publicity if that had happened.
  12. V Whitehaven 18/1/15

Impressed, very impressed! Great defence, fast inventive attacking. Good crowd. Smashing start. Outside alcohol bar is going to need sorting for the summer evenings though.
  13. Good news folks, the documentary has resurfaced on Vimeo. You can download it too by selecting 'download' just below the video. The RFL would do well to promote 'The Greatest Game of All' on the back of this remarkable family who show the image of rugby in exactly the way you would want the world to view it. ---- I hope this doesn't go against forum rules, copyright etc.
  14. Menzies announces retirement

Outstanding player. His kind don't come along too often. All the very best to him and his family.
  15. Absolutely! Very good point.
