  1. Next season....

Nice to see in the Les Ashe article that Scholey, Maudling and Curwen signed TWO year contracts! Pleasing commitment shown by those three!
  2. Next season....

Club comment and promise of action For those of you who may have missed this in the News and Star. Quote from the N & S: "Les Ashe said he can understand fans’ frustration following his side’s dismal derby defeat .......... The second-half performance was totally unacceptable, with only a handful of players showing any pride and passion. So, we can understand the fans’ frustration." He went on to say. "To lose by that margin in a derby is disappointing in itself and unacceptable, with the greatest respect to Whitehaven. We have a board meeting planned for this week and, after working extremely hard over the last 12 months, we now need to take stock and fathom out how we repair the current situation."
  3. derby game

Town Squad: Coward Haven Squad: Forster, Green, Holliday, McAvoy, Olstrum, Holland, Riley, Brown, Miller, Burns, Thompson, Roper, Crook, Aiye, Calvert, Taylor, Newton, Tilley, Parker

I hope he does make an appearance, we will be really struggling for forwards with Tom Curwen not yet recovered from his shoulder injury and a question mark over whether or not Steve Scholey will be fit enough in time to feature.
  5. Communications and contacting the club

Genuine Town supporters who use this forum are entitled to views of all perspectives, be they positive or negative, their views are important and are indicative of their feelings regarding what for most is an important element in their/our lives. Gary did a great job in monitoring these comments (and frustrations at times) and made genuine attempts to act as a bridge between the supporters and the club. I am truly sorry that he has decided to step down from the Board as his honest, informative and always enthusiastic approach was much appreciated. I hope he continues to be a fan of the club and perhaps in the future he may consider returning (in some capacity) to the thankless but worthwhile challenges associated with keeping this club of ours alive.

Although not disagreeing with you ivans82, I am sure that clubs may approach players and players have the right to have talks with other clubs from the start of September. Where the division that the approached/ approaching club has as yet not been decided, two different respective financial contracts can be discussed/ offered prior to that final positional situation being resolved.
  7. Keighley v Town

Back in the day, when I was fit enough to play competitive team sport, this is the type of scenario I would have relished, nothing to play for but pride against a team that we love to beat. Commitment, discipline, passion and team spirit could enable a possible win for Town. All I personally want to witness is a group of lads giving their all both collectively and individually. Up The Town!

Unless operational rules have changed this year, all present players will have been informed at the end of August if they are to be offered a contract for next season or not. By the end of September, those offered contracts will have accepted the offer or declined. Rather than Gary drip feeding this information gradually during the Autumn months, it would be better if the names of those officially retained were published collectively ( as soon as officially possible) and the drip feed marketing technique was used to publish the names of players that the Club then newly added to that list.

Thank you Gary, that is the kind of answer I for one would have appreciated earlier.
