  1. They may have paid the rent but as the RFL subsequently appear to have loaned money back (for example the admin report says the RFL gave the Bulls £25k towards the November wages) then the net payment to the RFL is only about £6k overall. I must confess to feeling a little bitter about that - when my club was running out of money and had to cut wages by 30% it meant players walking out and we played the last 3 games with just 14/15 players which sealed our relegation. I'm sure £25k from the RFL would have come in handy, but I guess that's the downside of not being "iconic".
  2. Looking at the list of creditors they probably weren't paying their rent anyway as they owed the RFL £66k which is money now lost to the wider game.
  3. I know mate it wasn't a criticism
  4. You have to laugh at Lowe's comment that "financial sense isn't as important as the will to succeed" when a journo asked him about the club's spending plans !
  5. I see Bradford have somehow managed to sign 26 players since Monday !
  6. I'd suggest the consequences of a bad deal will be far more catastrophic than those of no deal. If it goes wrong this time then I suspect there'd be no way back for the game in Bradford. No deal would have given preparation time and the chance to rebrand and build some momentum towards a relaunch. We'll just have to see what happens before a proper judgement can be made.
  7. There's an old adage that applies here - no deal is better than a bad deal.
  8. Hi Adey I read it in the below linked article where the RFL confirmed at their press conference this morning that they had bought the assets of the old club. They also said putting Bradford in the Championship was the least worst option. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2017/jan/19/rugby-football-league-bradford-bulls-championship
  9. I might be a bit behind here but why have the RFL purchased the assets of the old club from the administrator ? Surely if the new owners wanted them then they should have bought them ?
  10. Hate to break this to you but if you finish in the bottom 2 you are relegated, simple as that, no second chances, no play off against a L1 team.
  11. Good signing, hope the others in the pipeline are of similar quality. Well done to all involved.
  12. You're a journo aren't you ? Do some digging !
  13. You could but by all accounts he has had nothing to do with running the business for quite some time and wasn't a director, he simply retained a shareholding. I'm no fan of his by any means but criticising the bloke for making a profit on a business he started 20 years ago is quite frankly a bit pathetic even for this forum.
  14. Are you suggesting there's anything wrong with him selling his business ?
  15. Rumours abound that Chalmers has pulled out due to HMRC demanding a large security deposit against future tax liabilities, as is their right (powers given to them in 2015) when a person in control has a track record of defaulting on tax payments and has had several business failures. Hopefully it's just rumour and there's no truth in it.
