  1. 3 Italian homegrown players, already involved in tests for Italy, are in Australia to play club rl with the Tully Tigers Rugby League Football Club (Tully, Queensland). They'll be having a life-sports experience that will hopefully make them improve as sportsmen and rugby league players. The players are Simone Boscolo, Edoardo Pezzano and Gioele Celerino, who has played rl in England in the past and is one of the most capped players for Italy. I personally know the 3 guys and they're very serious in their passion for the game, so I'm very satisfied and hopeful for their experience. Living, training and playing in an area where RL is sport-mania could prove very useful to their game. I'll be updating about their game experience in Australia
  2. Been asked by Hornets and Italy's player Richard Lepori, the editor of SportExamined, to write an article about the growth of the Italian Women's National RL Team. The article is in English, you can find it here:
  3. Here is the Italian squad list.
  4. Talked to people who attended and it was a real chance to improvement for anybody involved. Produced an article in Italian for, but here is Phil Caplan's media release about the course.
  5. Halifax's prop Alex Mammone has been included in the Italian training squad for the RLWC. Has any of you seen him play this season?
  6. The Italian Championship has started and there have been important results. Saluzzo NWR, the team who played in the French League Paca System last season, got a huge lost in Piacenza, at the home of the Italian Champions (XIII del Ducato). A match has been postponed in the Northern Conference due to players' and coaches' unavailability and will be re-scheduled asap. Big thing happening in Sicily, with Spartans Catania (who lost the Grand-Final last season and are improving year by year, providing the National Team with lots of players) beating XIII Lovers Palermo (68-26) in Enna.
  7. I managed to make an interview to Italy's star Terry Campese, former Canberra and Hull KR player. In the talk, he talks about his Raiders' and Hull KR's past, his current experience with the Q. Blues and the World Cup with Italy. The article is in Italian but if you scroll down you can find and read the English version of the interview.
  8. Following FIRL Official Media Release, here are some of the details about next International matches. The men team will travel to Beirut and play Lebanon. A week later, the Azzurri will receive Spain in Saluzzo, at the home of the Italian side who play in the French league system. Saluzzo's in a very beautiful region from a touristic point of view and if anybody of you has the desire to have an holyday in Italy and watch the game, I can make contact with the organizing committee about travel/accomodation advice/promotion. On the same day, the Women NT will receive Lebanon (after the 0-22 test played last February). There will be an Italy v Spain under 21 match, too. At the end of the summer, Italy will receive Scotland, both at a senior and youth level. Details about it will be announced soon.
  9. There will be a stage ('raduno') in Sicily next weekend. It's gonna be held by coaches Salvo Pezzano and Tino Magrì and will be open to athletes born in 2000, 1999 and 1998. The aim is to improve their game and to prepare for the Youth National team(s). I really like the stadium where the stage will be held. It's in Catania, the Campo Benito Paolone (former Santa Maria Goretti). The stadium takes its name from Benito Paolone (Campobasso, 11 novembre 1933 – Catania, 23 gennaio 2012), ru player and director, founder of the ru side Amatori Catania. The stadium holds 10,000 peoples and is currently used mostly for american football and rugby union matches and is the home of Amatori Catania team. hebergeur image Sicily (my grand-mother's homeland, too ❤️) has already hosted several rl events, like the test v Lebanon last year and 4 women's rl stages in the last months. Several Azzurre who played (and won) at Fouad Shehab. A lot of Sicilian guys got International caps for Italy, at test, 'A' and Youth level. They really love rugby there and it seems there a good space for our code, too. Here you can find details about the stage. I'll update with quotes, articles and pics asap, as soon as I hear from Tino and Salvo. hébergement gratuit
  10. It had been announced in Orazio d'Arro's (FIRL president) interview during the RLWC qualification playoff, but it is confirmed an Italian club will play in the French league system from next season on. The club is based in Piemonte. Working with their Media Officer for some interview before their debut. Here is the article from FFRXIII webiste. A little step that will help - that's the hope - giving the Italians higher level matches and the development.
  11. Serbia, Wales and Italy have begun preparations for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup, Pool A European Qualifiers. Current European Champions, Wales start as favourites, the Serbs are looking for a passage to the main tournament for the first time and the Azzurri are attempting to build on their encouraging 2013 showing. “Winning European Championship B last year and getting a chance to continue our quest to the World Cup 2017 is history making for Serbian Rugby League.,” said their president Predrag Pantic. “We are excited and honoured to be in this position but we won’t be fazed by the great opportunity we earned with hard work and dedication.” Wales Rugby League is looking to build structure, as well as take their place in the Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea staged World Cup next year. “We are geared towards improving the performance of the national team and improving the structure of the domestic league,” said CEO, Chris Thair. “An appearance at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup would provide a platform to do that. We want to gain financial reserves and make sure that 2018 is a turning point for the sport in Wales. “ Orazio D’Arro, president of the FIRL (Italian Rugby League Federation) expects their game at Monza, as part of a ‘festival of rugby league,’ to be a turning point for the sport in his country. “This is an important moment for us and our development, we have prepared well and created a strong and united group of players,” he said. “We have worked hard to give stability to our domestic league and, at the same time, tried to create a large, proud, young national squad. “ RLWC2017 – EUROPEAN QUALIFIERS – POOL A 15 October 2016 – Wales v Serbia, Stebonheath Park, Llanelli 22 October 2016 – Serbia v Italy, Makis Stadium, Belgrade 29 October 206 – Italy v Wales, Stadio Brianteo, Monza
  12. Qualification for the next RLWC continues on the 20th of June as Italy host Serbia in the European Championship B. This is Italy's first international this year and will be hoping to defeat a Serbian team eager to build on their historic defeat of Russia last month
  13. I suppose they needed someone who could speak to the Italians in their home language
