old rovers

i was looking at the league express this week and had a laugh at how many old rovers players are floating round at different clubs the list i got was :

scott wilson (donny)

gary ellery (donny)

stuart kain

wayne mchugh

adam sulivan

james houston

steve dooler

tommy haughey

neil lowe

waine pryce (all hunslet)

jamie rooney (barrow)

ade adebsi (skolars)

bryn powell

chris spurr

adam hayes

Ithink we can only class those as old Rovers if they were first reared by Rovers.

Only a few of those listed were brought through the ranks at rovers. A symptom of the contract system - players are on the merry go round every few years.

I thought Paul Hughes signed for dewsbury?

Number 9 for Hunslet. Played 3 games and got 2 tries already this season.

Josh Weedon played 6 games for Normy Knights this season scoring I believe 7 tries. He then went back home and I do''t know if he is intending on coming back to England or not.

I just can't get Rovers out of my head!

That's just how it is these days. Everybody on one year contracts and wholesale changes every year.

Some of those players are rejects and some have gone on to better things.

"We'll sell you a seat .... but you'll only need the edge of it!"

Rejects, rejects, what an horrible description and word, surplus to requirements is far more kinder.
