dafydd james to crusaders?

Recommended Posts

Great player in his day, clever and slippery and brave for his size but not sure about this at 34 and having failed at sale. still shows that league is back on welsh union players minds.

Predictions for the future -

Crusaders RL to get a franchise for 2012 onwards -WRONG

Widnes Vikings also to get a franchise - RIGHT

Crusaders RL to do the double over Widnes and finish five places ahead of them -WRONG

Widnes Vikings NOT to dominate rugby league in years to come! STILL TO COME

I promise to pay 10 to the charity of Bomb Jacks choice if Widnes Millionaires finish above the battling underdogs Crusaders RL. I OWE A TENNER!

Hardly an inspiring signing - particularly given the quotes attributed to him in the article.

honest though, given some of the guff we here from some cross-coders. a pro making a pro decision.

Going on impressions gained in previous newspaper articles etc, I suspect that he: -

- has always had a high opinion of himself.

- is unlikely to have the same degree of humility that Gareth Thomas showed on entering and learning a new sport. And Thomas is a much better player.

- is unlikely to offer the Crusaders much in terms of performance or publicity.

An ideal move would be for Gavin Henson ... to start training after his Strictly Come Dancing stint ends in about November, ready for the season opening in Feb 2011.

To be honest i dont think thomas is a better player, especially as an out and out winger. thomas is more likely to put the graft into making the transistion and if someone said give loose forward a go he would at least try, where james would say ###### off. not sure if that makes thomas any brighter though.

also james relies more on a bit of pace and that is definitely gone, thomas never had it.

But sign him while he's still on Strictly so it may come up in conversation on there

With all due respect the crusaders do ######ing nothing for development for welsh kids at all, on the weekend vs catalans there was one welshman jordan james the side is full of aussies, kiwis and whoever has played a dozen nrl games.

While elliot kear, white and the rest of the young kids play 2nd division footy at least catalans throw young kids to superleague. It is a joke what point to them in superleague if no welsh kids are coming through really is there any?

How long did it take RL development in London to get the number of southern youngsters in the Quins team that we have now? It would do the players you name no good whatsoever to be thrown into SL too early and be part of a side getting humped in front of dwindling crowds. The Welsh national side would attract MANY more spectators and young player to RL if there are a couple of big name converts playing.

Rugby League is a sport that desperately needs to expand its geographical supporter base and its player base. This imperative means that all other requirements are secondary until this is done.

All power in the game should be with governing bodies, especially international governing bodies.

Without these actions we will remain a minor sport internationally and nationally.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

And of course the fact that the catalans have players developed in a semi-pro comp that has been going for over 50 years has nothing to do with it. The french are ahead in the developments stake, good for them, but the idea that unless you are past a certain point in development you are not making a contribution is illogical in the extreme. We are a different stage in our development thats all, throwing players not ready into superleague so we can get hammered by 70 points every week makes no sense to anyone. Its just means you postnig a different load of nonsense "crusaders hammered again - whats the point of them"

We are just about to launch a scholarship for every age group between under 15s to under 20s. But you right lets throw that all away so you can remain a big fish in a very small pond. Good thinking.

"The Wales Rugby League have been engaged to run the Crusaders Scholarship and Academy programmes and many may be interested to note that these are still hosted and implemented here in South Wales under the guidance of Andy Lindley and Dan Clements. There is a huge talent base here in South Wales and from 2010 we will have Scholarship and Academy programs ranging all the way from 15's to 20's. "

Of course you would have been aware of that if you had made the effort to do some research before guffing off.

Give them time.............there are plenty of good young welshman knocking about with SL clubs, in time the Crusaders will have more Welsh players.

Wires have 5 on theirs books, so in time Crusaders will have plenty.
