Emile Griffith. Fantastic boxer, never got the post-career recognition that he dserved, probably because he was gay.

I  remember him beating Brian Curvis, who I didn't realise had died last year.

The Retrobloke second-hand record shop in Hendon - my local, as it were.  :(

Went there on Saturday to find a 'closed for business' sign on the door. They are continuing as an on-line seller, but it's not the same.

Keyboard wizard George Duke, who played with everyone from Frank Zappa to Barry Manilow.

I saw him with Stanley Clarke at the New Orleans Jazz Festival in May this year.

They were phenomenal. A great loss to the music world.

The Planner who authorised the new building on the end of my street.

He's not dead; it's just wishful thinking on my behalf.

That's no age.

A bit of my youth has died there.

For a youngish band (90's) thats's now two members that have passed on with the keyboard player dying in his 30's.

That'll teach him not to fear the reaper.

He could be having a nice chat with him right now, maybe with a cup of tea and biscuits, rather than being in fear for his soul.  I'd expect that the grim reaper would find it a pleasant change from the usual screaming and denial he must get each day.

After having lived with Patti Smith, maybe Allen feels the same way.

Des Lynam is presenting a tribute to Cliff Morgan on BBC1 Wales (Sky Channel 952) at 10.40pm tonight.

It'll probably be available later on the i-player.

For those that are unaware, Cliff was formerly the Head of Sport at the BBC, and was a big champion of rugby league. He was most complimentary of it in his autobiography.
